Vehicle Detail
1958 CHEVROLET IMPALA SPORT COUPE – 348 TRI POWER - 69,000 MILES I’m sadly selling this vehicle for the owner’s estate. There’s always one last project car and this was his. This great car was manufactured and has lived in California its entire life. This two-owner car has no rust. It was stored in a climate controlled storage facility for the past 12 years, only leaving when the owner had time to work on it. As you can see by the dust, it’s been awhile since he last got to it. That said, a few pumps on the gas pedal and she started right up. This 1958 Tri-Power Impala Sport Coupe is very original showing 69,000 original documented miles. It is complete and it runs great. Most components are in great driver or better, Saturday cruise night, original condition. The previous owner installed very expensive tuck and roll seat covers protecting the original upholstery as shown in the pictures very early in its life. Documentation included with the car shows a VIN of F58L181792. F=1800 Series. 58=Model Year. L=Los Angeles. 181792=81,792 Passenger Car. The Trim Tag shows Style Number 58-1847. 58=Model Year. 1847=8 cylinder, 2-door hardtop Sport. Body Number VN-12398. VN=Van Nuys. 12398=12,398 car off the Van Nuys assembly line. Trim Number 906. Paint Number 900 A. 900=Black. A=Acrylic. ACC EZI IP EZI=Tinted Glass. The Tri-Power Impala Sport Coupe is a very rare car. Based on the receipts within the last five years, the carburetors were rebuilt by Carburetor Carl out of Irwindale, CA. The engine was then tuned by Matt Whitmarsh of Ramona, CA with the valves adjusted, timing set and the carbs synced. At that time a new exhaust system from Classic Exhaust was installed and the front end was rebuilt with all new bushings and four shock absorbers. After all of this work was completed it was given a four wheel alignment. This Tri-Power drives as great as the day it left the factory. The tires are four years old and have less than 500 miles on them. This car still carries its small California pink slip along with its black license plates. Receipts show that the original dual booster master cylinder was rebuilt in 2009. The starter was rebuilt then also. Also in 2009, the clock and radio were rebuilt and both function as they should. There is a shop manual that comes with the car. There is also the original owner’s manual. Receipts date back to 1995 and come with the vehicle. In addition, all of the parts that were purchased and set to be used are included. This car was a labor of love and a car show favorite. NADA guides indicate the following values: Original Base Price of $2,693. Current collector books price this car in the $19,200 to $37,100 to $60,000. Options: 348 V8 Engine adds 40% value, the Tri Power adds an additional 15%. That brings the range to $29,760 to $57,505 to $93,000. This car, while dusty, is significantly better than Low Retail. With minimal effort this could easily be a high retail car. The reserve is conservatively set to reflect the outstanding original condition of this well preserved and cared for 1958 Tri-Power Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe. If you have questions please call me, Tom Rohner, 619-807-8770. I will attempt to answer them to the best of my ability as I helped out on some of the restoration efforts. Bid to win as cars like this are far and few between.
