Vehicle Detail
I have a rare 1981 Honda CBX. I purchased this bike a few months back, with the intention of doing a little work, and riding the bike. Unfortunatly, things change, and I need to sell it. I bought it from the second owner, a gentleman in his 60's that had owned it since 1993. When he bought it, it had 5500 miles on it. The man I bought it from loved this motorcycle. He took VERY good care of it, and rode it quite a bit. He was very good about maintaining the bike, and rode it weekly until about a year ago, when his health affected his riding. His wife didn't want him riding much anymore, so she "suggested' he sell it. When I went to go look at the bike, he had charged the battery, and we were able to start the bike. However, it took a while to warm up, and it did not idle well. I was able to ride the bike around the block, and it stopped and handled well. I have ridden it once since, again, just around the block. I can't verify what the previous owner told me, but here it is: oil changed every 5k. chain and sprockets changed 10k ago. (they look fine, with little wear)rear shock upgraded (unsure what brand)never wrecked (dropped off the kickstand once, right side, no obvious damage)new tires put on 4k ago. (they have lots of life left, look almost new)corbin seat with passenger backrest added (small wear spot on seat, not torn, just worn)He claimed he had a shop completely go over the bike every 10k. valve adjustment, clutch adjustment, brake fluid changed, etc, however he did not have receipts. He was a vietnam vet, and I absolutely believed him though. so that's what I was told, here is what I see. no bubbling or rust on the tank at all (there is some paint flaking around the fill. it looks like someone tried putting a large reflective sticker around it to prevent further flaking)no bubbling or rust on the exhaust at all (except of a few small spots right at the exhaust spigots)rear brake rotor and pads will need to be replaced (worn very low)will need a new battery (doesn't hold a charge well)#5 cylinder doesn't get very warm when running. (I assume that carb is gummed up from sitting)some corrosion on engine. (should clean up fine) Overall, this bike is in VERY nice shape. It is not a hop on and ride bike though. It will need a little maintenance and TLC, but I imagine with some effort, this bike will be ready to go another 65,000 miles. I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL MOTORCYCLE MECHANIC. The things I have pointed out are simply observations. I am not perfect, I make mistakes, and I DO NOT KNOW EVERYTHING, but I strive to be as honest as possible. If you have any questions, PLEASE CALL ME. my number is 757-409-3197, and my name is Josh Nowell. I will be happy to answer any questions you have, and I can absolutely send additional photos if needed. If you have a concern, please contact me first!!! Negative, or neutral feedback will not resolve a problem, nor result in the buyer receiving a refund.
