Vehicle Detail

This car is a 1939 Packard Twelve (model 1708) with a seven passenger limo body. After five years of meticulous restoration he started driving it and showing it. It received first place at the All-Packard Salado Meet. This car even has power steering and the odometer shows 59,700 miles. This year (1939) was the last time Packard made the Twelve, and only a few limousines were made. It was also the last year Packard used wood for the body. The wood of this car was in poor shape, and was 90% replaced with walnut parts, except for rosewood in the window frames. The engine was disassembled, cleaned, and rings and bearings were replaced. New spark plugs and the two coils were replaced, and the dual distributor was overhauled. All new wiring. A test stand was fabricated and the engine was run successfully for 100 hours, before it was installed in the car. The clutch and brake pedals are power assisted by vacuum cylinders. The tires are 8.25 x 16. There are three spare tires: two side mounted and one in the trunk. Anti-sway bars front and rear. Hydraulic shock absorbers at all wheels. The body has a divider window, two jump seats, and privacy drapes at all rear windows. The radio is push-button type (radio is included but not installed). Also custom added are the electric fuel pump, turn signals and electric windshield wipers! The front upholstery is green leather (top grain), the rear compartment is in premium green cloth, all using coil springs, individually bagged, and the carpet is synthetic lamb skin. The roof is in green marine-grade vinyl. The headliner is extra-soft microfiber suede. Interior metal parts were wood-grained. The shift lever is steering column mounted. The clock in the rear compartment is Swiss-made Jaeger (needs repair) The mascot is a Lady Lalique crystal (French made), illuminated from underneath. There are two large Trippe driving lights, and two backup lights. Arrangements can be made to see and drive the car in Southwest Houston. The buyer can collect the car, after full payment is made and the title is transferred.
