Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a really clean, un-molested example of a BMW R100S. Bike only has 6027 original miles. Has OEM toolkit, pump, some original VARTA battery paperwork and the OEM tube repair kit. (I believe all keys are here but will need to double check.) Bike was purchased by an NC friend of mine in the Pittsburgh PA area from the daughter of the original owner. unfortunately the original owner fell victim to a stroke and was no longer able to care for himself let alone the bike and so it was sold. Ultimately, my friend decided it was time to downsize and I purchased the bike from him about 6 months ago. This bike has a very low production date of 7/76 and is number 52 off the line per the serial number. Interestingly as well is that the bike is listed as an "R100S Special" in the factory BMW brochure. This was due to the "special" ratio of 3.09 that the first couple hundred bikes or so were delivered with per subject matter experts. Again, this is per a period brochure, not my opinion. Later bikes were delivered with a 2.92 ratio if I am not mistaken. Bike was obviously always kept indoors and shows no signs of abuse, damage or otherwise. I cannot think of one significant scratch or ding that needs to be pointed out. Some paint missing around the back of the mirrors at the stalk is all that comes to mind. These are also the correct original mirrors that have not been available for a long time. Tank insides are as you would expect with no signs of rust etc. Remarkably, there is no sign of sun fade on the beautiful red finish as these bikes are so prone to doing. Pin stripes are all in place with some minor wear from polishing but without any breaks or rubbed thru areas if that makes sense. Bike runs well and has had new tires that are still virtually new on it. Pipes are very nice with no internal rust swelling. I did spend some time cleaning and detailing the bike recently, so these pictures are at it's "worst". I receive nothing but positive comments about the bike from all those who view it and I don't think you will be disappointed. Having said that, please bear in mind that you are bidding on a bike that is over 35 years old. In my eyes, I believe the bike to be of museum quality, maybe it's not. I will leave that for you to decide. The bike is incredibly nice but not perfect, not sure how but I am sure someone will tell me..... Will assist in anyway I can to facilitate the shipping from my location to yours but shipping will of course be at the expense of the buyer. If you would like to come see the bike or want to have a friend come see it for you etc, will be glad to accommodate as schedules permit. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions and I will respond in a timely manner. BE glad to chat about the bike as well and I can be reached at 717-554-1267. If you would like to recieve more pictures of something in particular posted, will also be glad to accomodate. I have set the reserve price at what I believe to be a very reasonable amount for a bike of this quality. I will not disclose the reserve, sorry. I also do not have a buy it now and am not going to end the auction early at this point.
