Vehicle Detail

This is a really nice luxury vehicle. We picked this one because it had all the important options in 2004. It has a panoramic sunroof which essentially allows the roof over the first two rows to slide back over the third row of seats. Another huge option for us was the third row seating. It fits seven passengers so long as two of those are either small or flexible. The middle row of seats is extremely generous in space and the seats can slide forward and back. There is also a built in dvd system with a TV between the front seats which entertains the back rows. The sound system is amazing with Bose stereo all around. The rear row of seats folds down and opens up a nice sized cargo area with a cover which can be pulled across to hide the Christmas presents. The last important option set that we wanted was the upgrade to the 4.6L Northstar V8. These are highly regarded engines (at least this vintage is). They were extensively deployed by Cadillac prior to this vehicle and within this vehicle it puts out a highly refined 320 hp, which really is a lot of performance. In terms of performance, this Caddy can deliver way more than you should be using on public roads. This was Cadillac's first attempt at the mid-size SUV and they bench-marked it against the very best. It outperformed the Porsche Cayenne on the track in various comparos. On hard acceleration, you can really feel the AWD kick in and snap you back in your chair. It also uses the famous magnetic fluid shocks that GM developed; yes, the same ones that Ferrari licensed to include in their sports cars. What they do is provide stiffness when you want it and cushion when you want it. It is the best of both worlds, the floating luxury cruiser when you want that and the cornering magician when you want that. At the gas pump, it does pretty well. We get around 20 on the highway and 16 in town. The condition of this SUV is outstanding. My wife has been driving it since 2006 and has completely pampered it. The seat bolsters are solid with very little entry wear. The carpet shows well and all original floor mats are it very decent condition (they are not shown in the photos as I had pulled them out to clean them). The undercarriage is super clean. It was originally a PA car, moved to IN for 4 years, and has since been in AZ. From the undercarriage, you would guess its been in AZ the entire time because its so clean. It has been garaged its whole life, although it just recently lost its spot. The paint looks great with no flaking, fading, or clear coat peel. Either Cadillac used great clear or keeping it waxed does really pay off. All lights and lens work properly and are clear. Speaking of lights, the LED arrays in the tail were visionary in 2004 and keeps the look of this vehicle really modern. If you know these vehicles, you may be aware of the SWPS (steering wheel position sensor) problems that some of these have had. This one did have that sensor fail and it was replaced just last year. Since, the stability control and abs systems have worked perfectly. The tires are new last year with <5000 miles on them. A bit of a negative is the rims, my wife did occasionally get too cozy with a curb. They are pretty rashed, but still show well (no balancing problems). Mechanically, this vehicle is rock solid - I would jump in and drive it to Maine and back without a second thought.
