Vehicle Detail

I bought this Healey on 10/26/77 in Hyannis, MA from the head of the sports car club of Cape Cod. I previously owned 2 1955's and one 1956 as my last name is Healey. Engine was sent to Boston and rebuilt and then car was driven back to CT. Mileage on purchase title was 14,599. Mileage today is 16,327 or 1728 miles driven in in the 35 years I have owned it. The car is registered and insured. The car is mostly original condition and not a frame off restoration. It was always stored inside and never driven in snow or rain. Over the years I have owned it all mechanicals have been rebuilt or replaced. Engine/head redone, brakes, shocks, etc. The body was restored twice by me and is straight and true. The paint is more like the 1956 color as the original Carmine Red 1955 is awful at best. The color is BMW 1999 Hellrot II laquer/clear coat. The seats and door panels are Amco vinyl and still in amazing condition. The rugs are after market, but will need updating eventually. The new top and tonneau are black canvas giving it a richer look than the original vinyl. The trunk lining is from Moss Motors. The exhaust system from the muffler back has been modified after scraping off at least 3 aftermarket reproduction systems. The muffler is a round end cherry bomb and the exhaust exits in front of the rear wheel. It is not visible and I have not been able to scrape this one off. It sounds just like stock. I have excellent front and rear bumper with mounts and front aluminum spacer/ splash pan. I took them off ten years ago to see the real beauty of the body. The electric overdrive half worked when I bought it. I remember 20 years ago paying something like $400 bucks to have it cleaned, checked and then it worked fine for a few months. Was not happy with the mechanic. It will shift out but not engage so it needs wires checked and maybe cleaning. It comes with an MG Mitten heavy cloth car cover and a spare on 48 spoke wheel plus a 6th spoke wheel. Firewall # 5400 9563. Engine # 1B224758. DBC 22564. If you need specific details feel free to email me. Terrance D. Healey
