Vehicle Detail
I did NOT want to sell this car but it's taking up space in a buddy's garage, so I need to let it go. This was my first car back in 1982 and I drove it for a couple of years as my daily. Since then it has remained either in storage, outside behind my parents house, or, for the past four or so years, inside a garage. Rarely driven but she runs and drives great. Has been inspected the past couple of years, so I suspect it can be inspected again, provided you go to the right inspection station anyway. Some details of the car: Was a light restoration back in the early '80s and really looked nice back then, even though the paint job does not exactly match the original color. Since that time, it has deteriorated as can be seen in the photos. Original 80 hp engine smoked up a storm, so we replaced it back in 1983 with a 1964 110hp engine. Purists should be able to notice that by looking at the engine photos, although I have still used the old air filter and housing. If you want the 1964 housing and throttle rod I will throw that in with the deal. Car has Clark's Corvair Parts floor pans that have been screwed in, not welded in. Anyone wanting to keep the car should purchase new rocker panels and have them welded in. This will enhance the cars structural integrity as the rockers on there now are pretty rusted. I have a replacement fiberglass dogleg to fix the rusted dogleg in front of the rear wheel well. Interior looks decent but the front seat cover is shot (hence the after market cover, and the rear seat cover has some wear and tears. I have a replacement radio housing that has not been cut out that will go with the car if someone has a stock radio they want to install. Mechanically, as I said, it runs, drives and stops great. Parking brake works fine. Gas heater works fine. I suspect a U-joint on the left rear axle is going bad as it rattles a little bit when driving. I have tinkered around with the car over the past couple of years to clean up some wiring, fix some surface rust in the trunk, and generally make it presentable. You could drive it just like it sits, or as I recommended before, get the rockers replaced and drive it just like that. It has excellent patina. I hope the guy from Rutland Vermont who wanted to buy it from me last year sees this and bids on it. He really wanted the car but I had second thoughts and decided to keep it. The reserve price is set at that agreed sale price- if I can't get that much for it on Ebay I will try another method of sale. But it HAS to go. On Oct-29-13 at 05:52:08 PDT, seller added the following information: EDIT: It's actually the RIGHT rear axle that I suspect has a bad u-joint, not the left. On Nov-02-13 at 08:59:00 PDT, seller added the following information: Someone asked if the car has the fold down rear seat - it does not. And I also posted pics of the rear seat and the Fisher plate that's in the engine compartment. Car runs! Much better deal than a $6k car with 10 miles that doesn't!
