You are reviewing information on my 1966 Chevrolet C10 Short Bed Fleetside Pickup. I purchased this truck in May, 2011 as a restoration project. I’ve spent 2 ½ years doing this rebuild and have turned this vehicle into a 1st class ride. During the restoration I’ve logged over 1600 hours of labor. Every part on this truck was either replaced or sand blasted and repaired. Below I have listed the parts and assemblies I have replaced. All drive train and suspension parts have been replaced or rebuilt and restored except the rear axle assembly, (12 bolt GM). It was inspected and found to be in good shape, so the unit was cleaned and new gear oil was installed. The audio is by retro sound. It looks original but has modern digital electronics. Dual left & right speaker unit in dash and “rear” speakers in the kick panel have been installed. It has an auxiliary port which I use for my XM radio. The XM3 cradle & antenna is included with the purchase, (but not the receiver). I've installed GM power steering and complete front power disc brake assembly with new spindles, bearings etc. The new 290 hp GM Crate engine has great power and is a good, powerful street engine with a very mild “lope” at idle. The transmission is a completely rebuilt GM TH400 with a mild shift kit. I kept the rear gearing “high” at 3.23 so it gets decent mileage. Mileage running 65-70 is 17-17.5 mpg. Local driving is around 14.5 mpg. The seats & console are from a 2006 Chevy Tahoe, are very clean with no stains or spots, comfortable and the driver’s seat is six way electric adjustable. There is a very small blemish on the driver’s side arm-rest part of the center console when it is in the down position. The windshield wiper system is from Newport Engineering with modern features like electric washer pump and infinitely variable intermittent wiper speeds. The paint is PPG “Mystic Metallic Blue” from the 2012 Audi color book. The door shells and fenders are new reproduction units. All other body metal was sandblasted and repaired. After body work, paint included two coats epoxy primer, three coats color and four coats clear. The clear coat was color sanded and buffed to a high sheen. There are a couple almost invisible paint chips (no dents) that I’ve repaired. Gotta stay out of the Walmart parking lots! The overall look is very good. THIS IS A RUST FREE TRUCK. Windshield, both side glasses and complete vent window assemblies are new. The rear glass is original. Door, window and all other rubber is new. Suspension front & rear is completely rebuilt or replaced, including new ball joints, springs, shocks & all bushings etc. Hellwig front anti sway bar turned it into a really steady ride in the curves. The Steering Column is a Tilt Wheel Ididit unit with emergency flashers. I’ve taken this truck on three out of state trips, (to show off to relatives), each consisting of about 750 miles. The listed mileage is since the truck became drivable, as the speedometer was replaced during the restoration. I have installed a speedometer correction gear box and the odometer and speedometer are spot on. This truck rides comfortably and handles exceptionally well. I have entered the truck in two shows, one which was judged. The $75,000.00+ vehicles took the trophies, but this truck got tons of WOWs. This truck is show quality.
