Vehicle Detail

1958 BMW ISETTA 600 You are bidding on a red and white 1958 BMW Isetta 600 Limousine (Rare U.S export model) This three owner Isetta has been owned by the same person for the last 25 years. Only driven in Shriner parades around the state of Iowa. This is the U.S export model 600 Isetta with small Euro lights. The car is very drivable with all of the lights and signals working correctly and the tires being in good condition. The car also has the original jack, jack handle, and spare tire along with a owners manual, parts book, and repair manual. The car was originally yellow and white with brown interior but was repainted red and white and the interior changed to white over 25 years ago. The car looks very nice but would need a full restoration to be a show car. The owner just drove the car in parades and around town so I would consider it a driver quality car. I want to stress that this is NOT a show car; it has some imperfections that I will list as follows. Needs to have the gas manually shut off going to the carburetors because it will flood out the carburetors if the fuel is left on. Needs a new muffler and rear bumper. Needs shocks, bushings, tie rods, and brakes. The brakes work but they are weak. The tin that surrounds the engine is not installed. Has some rust in the floor. Had some repair work done in the front but I would install a new floor. The engine runs but is noisy. It has had the valves ground, new rings installed, rubber valve guides installed, also has a new clutch installed. There is a complete extra engine that will go with the purchase of the car. The spare engine runs but needs a new clutch. Also have 2 spare transmissions that will also go with the purchase of the car. The transmission in the car is hard to shift into gear and doesn’t shift from gear to gear very smoothly. It might just need the linkage adjusted. Front shocks are weak and let the car bounce. One of the rear reflectors is broken and the seals for both need to be replaced. Although this little Isetta needs some attention there is no reason the new owner can’t just enjoy it the way it is. It runs and drives fine and has been in numerous parades around the state. I have not seen very many of the 600 Isettas in my area and very seldom see them come up for sale. We are located in rural Iowa and welcome any prospective buyers to come look at the car before the auction closes. I have numerous pictures of the car and the extra parts that show the condition better than words can describe and I will be happy to email them out to you. We are also available to all perspective buyers for viewing of the car. Feel free to ask any and all questions about the car. The car is owned by an 82 year old Shriner that is in the local car club with me. I sold one of his 300 Isettas for him last year and now he wants to sell his 600 because he no longer has the time to enjoy the cars so he is trimming his collection of Isettas down to just one 300. The car has a modest reserve considering how rare it is and all of the extra parts that go with the car. I will not disclose the reserve and the auction will not end early. We are going to let the auction run and see what happens. The car is being sold AS IS with no warranty written or implied. I have sold numerous collector / specialty cars on Ebay and locally and have always had happy customers. I try to be honest in the description of the cars and would rather the transaction not have any surprises. Please feel free to ask any questions you like before you bid! This car is going to sell and we do not want to deal with any bidders that back out after the auction is over. The owner had a hard time making the decision to sell so I would like the process to go smooth for all parties involved. The 600 BMW has a clean and clear Iowa title and can be driven on the roads legally. The seller would like cash or a cashier’s check drawn from a U.S bank for payment on the car. A non refundable deposit of $500 is due within 48 hours of the close of the auction in the form of cash or a pay pal transfer, with the remaining balance due within 7 business days. The signed title will be expressed mailed when the funds clear the seller’s bank. All cost incurred in transporting the Isetta is the responsibility of the buyer. I have a couple companies that I have used in the past so we can help in making arrangements with the transport company and the car can be stored until the transport can pick it up. Thanks for looking at the car and good luck in bidding!
