Vehicle Detail

1970 International Scout 800A Frame-off Restoration done by Anything Scout This 1970 Scout was in my family for a few generations. It was my Grandfathers and my uncle's. When it became mine I decided to have it rebuilt from the ground up. I'm no mechanic so I went to the best in the business, Anything Scout in Ames, IA. They have done an amazing job. This Scout is top notch. I've never seen one even close to this quality. I am trying to list every part that has been replaced, upgraded or rebuilt. I'm not sure how detailed most frame-off restorations are but this one was kinda insane. It is basically a new 1970 truck with lots of modern upgrades where it was important. Not only was the entire drivetrain rebuilt and upgraded but every bolt was replaced and in most cases with stainless steel. UNDER THE HOOD: The 258 AMC was rebuilt using HP parts the cylinders are bored over .030 a Weber 32/36 two barrel carb was added on top of an Offenhauser C Series Intake Manifold. The exhaust manifold was upgraded and the muffler and pipes are all new. They added electronic ignition replaced the plugs and wires. New heater core, heater control valve, blower motor and ducting. The cooling system was upgraded and rebuilt. An aluminum radiator was added. All hoses and the thermostat were replaced. The water pump is also new. The speedometer cable, e-brake, vacuum hoses, master cylinder, alternator, power steering pump and valve cover are all new. 4X4 SYSTEM: The 4x4 system has been beefed up and modernized. It has a Torqueflite 727 automatic transmission with a Dana 300 transfer case. They replaced entire steering system and added power streering from a Scout II. They also added a heavy duty tie rod assembly. The front axle is a Dana 44 in the rear. Dana 30 in the front. Disc brakes were added to the front and the drums were replaced with all new parts in the rear. Rancho shocks were added as part of a 2" lift kit. BODY: The body is immaculate. It is rust and bondo free. With a beautiful two-tone paint job. The windows, window hardware, mirrors, seals and gaskets have all been replaced. The floors have been sprayed with Rhino Liner. Anything Scout added a pair of their awesome custom bumpers and put new emblems on. The chrome wheels came off a 1971 Scout.
