Vehicle Detail
1965 Ford Mustang Coupe 289 v8, automatic with power steering – running and driving – great drive-while-you-work-on-it classic cruiser. She’s not the prettiest car on the road, but her patina shows that she’s been there. This car would be welcome at any local cruise-in event anywhere; a real, honest, un-mutilated classic Mustang. She is an original v8 car – no six cylinder conversion here. The 289 with 4-barrel carb runs very well, nice and responsive, and the transmission works well, too. The power steering is light and easy and the car drives very well. Review the videos and you will see and hear her running and driving. Other than the age of the tires, I wouldn’t hesitate to bump the key and drive her anywhere. She has been well maintained. She has been owned by the same family for the past 29 years and I have the bill of sale to show the lineage. The family obviously performed the maintenances on her and gave her the service she needed. Some years ago she was repainted the original color and the owner had two new quarter panels and fenders installed. The lights, blinkers, wipers, stereo, horn all work and you can see these in the videos, too. She’s in quite good condition for her age, but she does have a bit of rust here and there. The area under the battery tray is a good example as is the trunk panels. This car is much better than many I have seen. These parts are very inexpensive and could make for a good weekend upgrade. In the meantime, she can be driven and enjoyed. The front seat upholstery is in pretty good shape, the rear seat has the seam splitting in two places. The headliner has two holes in it. The stereo is one of the upper end Mustang upgrade units that are made to fit the Mustang dash without cutting – and it sounds pretty good. The really cool part is under the hood – very nice. The aprons and panels that usually have rust at the area where the hood drains water is in great shape – check out the pictures. The shock towers also have no holes drilled for the upper control arms like most of them did. The car has the GT rear valence and dual exhaust with trumpet tips. The exhaust note is modest and stealthy. She has a dent in the right-rear quarter panel. The car has a clear MD title. If you want me to trailer the car for you, I can do so for $1.70 per loaded mile in the eastern US. Otherwise, shipping or pickup is your responsibility. Cash is very much preferred, but if a Cashier’s Check is absolutely necessary, it will have to clear the bank before the car leaves my garage. I am sure you understand. If you are serious about the car, we can arrange an appointment so you can review the car in person. She is also for sale locally, so I reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time if she sells.
