Clean original 1976 BMW 2002. We purchased this vehicle in Jan of 2012 from the previous owner who had had the car since 1992. The car was last registered in 2003 and had been sitting in storage because it wouldn't pass Calif smog testing. Last month we decided to put in a battery, some fresh gas, and by adjusting the carb, we were able to get the smog check done and get the car registered. California registration is now paid through June 2014. Runs and drives well, but the carb may need to be rebuilt, and it should be tuned and serviced before taking on a lengthy voyage. This is an original paint California blue plate car that appears to have been treated well. The five digit odometer shows 90K which we are unable to verify but may be genuine. Virtually rust free, it has a minor bloom on the lower edge of the right front fender (see photo) and some surface rust in the spare wheel well. (see photo) The passenger door will sometimes pinch the edge of the hood, (see photo) but does not appear to be the result of any accident. Inside, the seats, carpets, and headliner all appear to be orignal, but the rear seat was recovered in a similar style but with cloth fabric. This car has the rare sunroof which works well, as well as air conditioning which is not hooked up. (belts removed) The drivers window goes down well, but is difficult to wind up, and the passenger side vent window does not close all the way. In the trunk, you will find the original fiber boards and all tools and the jack. Under the spare there is some surface rust, but no apparent rust through. Rare to find in original unmolested condition. 1976 was the last year of production for the 2002, so this would make a great great restoration project that you could drive while you improved.
