Vehicle Detail
1963 Cushman Trailster Scooter -- Very Rare! This is a very hard to find and extremely rare 50 year old Cushman Trailster in unrestored original condition. This Cushman Trailster has all original parts and is in running condition. These Cushman's are hard to come by and there is currently one listed in the Cushman Club.com website for $2950.00. It starts very easily with the "crank" kickstarter. The gas tank is in excellent condition with no rust. The clutch is noisy when first started but as soon as you put it in gear it is quiet and rides great. The brakes work great and it shifts great and in 1st & 2nd gear -- it goes about 35- 40 mph. It has the 4.8 horsepower engine in great condition. The headlight is nice condition but is not wired up but I have checked the current output and if it was wired, it would light. There are some nicks and scratches, but once restored this Cushman is worth its weight in gold. This Cushman is missing the engine brace on the left side of the motor, but one can easily be fabricated. It still has the original tires that came with it. The last time this scooter was started or ridden was about six months ago. I was going to restore it, but just do not have the time. This would be a great winter restoration project. I am selling this Cushman to the highest bidder over $895 and at that price I am losing several hundred dollars because I paid well over a grand for this rare gem. A little about Cushman - The Cushman company operated from 1903 to 2003 and was started in Lincoln, Nebraska, by Everett and Clinton Cushman. The company officially incorporated as Cushman Motor Works in 1913. Until 1936 it produced engines for farm equipment, pumps, lawn mowers and boats. From 1936 till 1965 it produced motor scooters, widely used by the US military in World War II and as alternative to automobiles before and after the war. The most successful model of Cushman scooter, the Eagle, was in production approximately 16 years. It resembled motorcycles with its exposed engine and top tank. Other Cushman models used a step-through design common for scooters. One famous Cushman was the model 53, a military model from the World War II era. Designed to be dropped by parachute with Army Airborne troops, it became known as the Cushman Airborne. Other models were used on military bases for messenger service. Cushman scooters usually weighed about 250 to 335 pounds and had as much as 9 horsepower (6.7 kW). Production ended in 1965, but some remaining Eagles were sold as 1966 models. I have been riding, racing, restoring and collecting motorcycles for over 45 years. This is more than a hobby for me -- motorcycles are my passion and I have decided to sell a couple because it is getting more difficult for me to ride in my older years. The Cushman will be sold as-is, with no warranties implied and it comes with a bill of sale only -- this scooter does not have a title. I also have several transport contacts and can get this Cushman transported almost anywhere in the United States for much less that most motorcycle transporters and USHIP. I have no issues selling to anyone out of the United States. I know of several international transporters and I will charge only $100 to get the bike prepped with documentation etc and fifty cents a mile both ways -- you pay the transporter to get it over the ocean. Please contact me with any questions or if you would like other pictures. You are welcome and encouraged to start, ride and see this bike in person before the auction ends -- just email me. Please check out my other Ebay listings – a partially restored 1974 Yamaha 125 Enduro, a restored 1969 Bonanza BC 1200 minibike, an original, unrestored 1968 Rupp C 250 mini bike, a restored 1968 Taco 44 mini bike, as well as a couple parts.
