1978 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce Convertible The Alfa Romeo Spider (105/115 series) is a roadster produced by the Italian manufacturer Alfa Romeo from 1966 to 1993. Widely regarded as a design classic, it remained in production for almost three decades with only minor aesthetic and mechanical changes. The three first series were assembled by Pininfarina in Grugliasco and the fourth series in San Giorgio Canavese. The Spider was the last rear wheel drive Alfa Romeo produced before Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione was introduced. It was the last project in which Batista Pininfarina was personally involved. All Spiders are brisk performers with sub-10 second 0-60 times and stellar convertible tops. Parts are readily available and while they are moderately complex, they are 100% analog/mechanical and don't require “factory computers” to fix and maintain. While rust was a major issue in these cars, this particular example is rust and rot free. This Spider is 1 of the 3868 made during the 1978 production year. It is a great example that has been lovingly maintained in near original condition. The original tan leather interior has been covered with very nice tan seat covers. The condition of the original leather is unknown as the covers are intended to be permanent. The original tan carpet has been dyed black. This job was done prior to present ownership and is admittedly not perfect. The original red paint has been resprayed recently and the present paint job really presents well. The original stereo has been replaced with a Blaupunkt Stereo which sounds great with new Kicker speakers in the doors. The top is in beautiful condition, so it must have been replaced recently. Beyond those upgrades the Spider is in very original condition. For the past 12 months, this car has been a daily driver and has proven its reliability. The tires are nearly new. A pure Italian classic that can run every day and be tinkered with in your garage with parts that are readily available - try to do that with a Ferrari or Lambo. While the car is in running and reliable condition, the fuel injectors appear to be running slightly rich. These cars are also known to have synchro issues - this car exhibits this feature under certain conditions. Although it seems too good to be true, the miles appear to be accurate and the title indicates Box A - Actual Miles.
