Vehicle Detail
1967 Ford Mustang Fastback GTA S-code runs & drives, with 428 from a 1968 GT500KR and CobraJet heads. Very little rust. Available here is a 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback GTA. She is an original S-code car and you’ll note that the Marti report is attached. The anemic 390 was replaced with a 428 from a 1968 Shelby GT500KR and 428 CobraJet heads. She run and drives and would be a breeze to restore since she is straight and has very little rust. The car has 109,000 miles on the odometer and I believe that to be accurate. Note the pile of service receipts and registration inspections from the past decades (in pictures). The car has been in the salt-free south its entire life until it ended up in my garage. The dual VIN stamping on the front apron match the data plate and even the original owner’s manual has the matching VIN typed in by the dealer on delivery day. The engine runs well and I have taken pictures of the casting numbers, etc for your viewing. She has a C6 automatic transmission and a 9-inch rear – both I believe to be original. The exhaust manifolds are rare commodities on this car as well. Take a listen to the videos and you’ll note that even with an exhaust leak and some squeaky belts, she sounds great and runs well. The original 390 big-block air cleaner assembly is still with the car (chrome top, blue bottom). The DPO (Darned Previous Owner) took care of some maintenance issues, among which he replaced the windshield and seal, the dash pad, the headliner and the carb and intake and a rear brake hose. It’s good to know that it was still getting the maintenance it needed. The trim pieces for around the windshield, etc are included. The interior is pretty nice other than a few rips in the seats. All the gauges work, the stereo works, etc. The original deluxe steering wheel is still there. The blinker stalk will probably need a new switch since it doesn’t ‘click’ into place anymore. The hood turn signals work as do the fog lights. The car has power brakes - the front brakes are dual piston discs and the rears are drums. The car has power steering, too – which also works well. The body seems to be an accident-free example as far as I can tell. The driver door was likely replaced at some point, I can tell by the type of rivets. Look closely at the pictures and you’ll see that the car has very little rust. Still has it’s original floors, and I found no evidence of quarter panel replacement. The rubber trunk drains are still intact, too. The front aprons are in pretty good shape with the largest example of corrosion being under the battery tray – very common. You can also see a small spot at the top of the rear driver’s side apron; very typical from water sitting draining from the hood surface. The car also has the two typical zerk fitting holes at the front for access to the upper control arms. All in all, she’s a very nice un-restored example of a 67 Fastback GTA big-block. She was originally Dark Moss Green – a great color – (Bullitt color I believe?) if you are going to put her back to her original hue. She would be an easy restoration, or you could simply review all the primary systems and drive it around for a while! You are welcome to review the car in person; just contact me and we can arrange an appointment before the auction ends. Cash is preferred – as a matter of fact, I will deduct $100 for using cash since it saves me trouble and worry. Any other certified forms of payment will have to clear before the car leaves my garage – as you can understand. Since I am retired, I can deliver the car to you if you wish for $1.70 per loaded mile – Eastern US only. I have an open trailer. The Maryland title is clear and in my name. Since commercial shippers will be a better deal in most cases, I am also willing to work with them to load the car. The report is posted in the collection of pictures (about 100 pictures) at the 'photobucket' link in the ad. The report is on page 5 of the pictures. Please review all the pictures if you are interested. * Also note I have located the casting date on the block (you have to be a contortionist to get numbers off an engine this size in a Mustang) - the block casting date code is 8M14. This is above the oil filter adapter. * Note that this car is also for sale locally and therefore may sell before the auction ends. I have already received several offers (cash and trades plus cash) very close to my asking price, so there's no telling how far this will go. Whichever method sells first, I will delete the other immediately to avoid any conflict. On Jul-27-13 at 05:24:59 PDT, seller added the following information: ** Since there have been a few questions about driving the car to its' new home, I wanted to make certain that it is known that these tires are very old. I would not recommend any distance driving on these tires.
