1976 curbside classic TR6 in British Racing Green. Old school with a healthy kick. It’s the most vibrant, appealing and civilized sports car of its era. It came out when I was in high school and, if you had this car, you could date the prom queen. I was in love but it was way, way out of any high school kid’s budget and I had to wait a couple of decades to get one. This car is ready for a drive in the hills, a drive to work, a weekend rally, or just turning heads wherever you go. It is by far the most fun car of many I’ve owned. This car is original, well maintained, garage kept, and an very good example of a 37 year old masculine roadster. The car was originally purchased by Jerry Berg in Fort Worth, Texas and later sold to Dave Haigler in Abilene, Texas. I am the third owner. I’ve driven it about 20 miles per year for the past several years and now need to make room for other things. It has 80,266 miles. Engine is 6 cylinder in-line OHV 2.5L and develops 104 BHP. 0-30 in 2.8 seconds, 0-50 in 6.3 seconds. 4 speed synchromesh. It is all original except new upholstery which was OEM from Moss Motors. Tires have less than 25 miles on them. They are, in my opinion, a much better ride than red stripes. The car has never been wrecked and there is no Bondo. It is rust free and has been garaged its entire life and never seen salt. If you are new to British sports cars, all parts are available from multiple U.S. suppliers and everything is available at affordable prices. It comes with a new Monza performance exhaust system still in the box. It doesn’t need a new exhaust system but I stumbled upon a great deal and picked it up for the future. It also comes with a new header. It doesn’t need it but I, again, stumbled upon a deal I couldn’t pass up. It has had over $9,000 of service, mostly during a “fix everything” session at about 74,000 miles. All work was done professionally by British Auto Specialists and The Pit Stop. Work includes: hood release cable, timing cover gasket, upper and lower ball joints, clutch shaft, clutch arm pin, clutch fork, throw out bearing, dash knobs, valve cover gasket, wheel bearings, starter wiring, distributor wiring, U joints, rear springs (to eliminate the common TR squat), new clutch and resurface of flywheel, Brake cylinders, shoes, pads, rotors, steering rack bushings, carb rebuild, choke cable, master cylinder, speedo cable, interior panels, sun visors, carpet, belts and hoses, a conversion kit for the use of disposable oil filters, and various other items. I have a new convertible top in the original tan which is not installed in the photos but is currently being installed. Service records come with the car. I’ve seen many TR6's and this is the best original, un-restored car I’ve seen. If you want to show off and have great time, it’s ready to go right now. If you want to take it to the next level, there is a loose window gasket on the driver’s side, the windshield gasket is cracked but does not leak, there is a crack in the driver’s side tail light lens, a ding in the trunk lid, the trim at the trans tunnel is chipped on both sides, and the odometer probably needs a gear (speedo and trip meter work but odometer is not turning - to get actual mileage, add the odometer and trip meter together). There are minor flaws in the paint if you look closely but, it’s very good for 37 years old. If complete restoration is your goal, this is a great place to start because the work would be fairly minor. Shipping is buyer's responsibility. All local shops are backed up into August so the new top will be in the box but not installed. Service records show a new top installed in 1993 for $125.00.On Jul-24-13 at 09:36:52 PDT, seller added the following information: Additional notes 7/24/13 to share bidder's questions with all bidders: Seats were redone because the foam was dead. All new webbing and foam. Didn't make sense to put the old skins back on since the seats were already out and ready for new skins. A bidder asked for pics under the spare and under the floor mats. Trunk is all green but color under floor mats was brown. Checked paint code and car was originally brown. Floorboards, under the sound insulation, are the only place there is now brown. The previous owner had a top notch job done and paint shop apparently disassembled body parts to get everything covered. No clue as to why they went to that much trouble and expense and didn't hit the floorboards. Also no clue as to why anyone would want a brown 6 when they could have BRG. Gauges are Smith and all work (with the odometer note in the description).
