Vehicle Detail

RELISTING DO TO BAD BIDDER! Please only bid if you intend to buy. This is a no reserve auction, This car will be sold to the high bidder The vehicle we are selling is a 1991 Chevrolet Z-28 Camaro 1LE edition. 5.0 Liter LB9 TPI Engine and 5 speed manual. For those of you not familiar with the 1LE option, It was a package attached to the Z28/Iroc Z Camaro that was intended strictly for racing. There were not many of these cars built. I have done extensive research on the car and discovered that the production numbers for 1991 1LE equipped Camaros sit somewhere between 469 and 478. I have included a link that will go into detail about the features included on a 1LE Camaro such as but not limited to: Aluminum driveshaft, G80 Differential with limited slip 3.42 posi rear, G92 Rear axle performance package, PBR front dual-piston aluminum calipers, Larger (11.86 inch) front rotors adapted from the corvette, Larger front spindles, Special swinging fuel pickup in gas tank and special 18 gallon baffled fuel tank for fuel pickup down to .5 gallon reserve to prevent fuel starvation in hard cornering, specific front and rear shock absorbers, Special deflected disc shocks, Air conditioning delete (C41) (standard heater) (weight savings and better air flow to the radiator), T-Tops delete, power accessories delete, Performance exhaust system (N10) (dual catalytic converters), 4-wheel disc brakes, 145 mph speedometers and 5500 rpm redline tachs http://www.camarosource.ca/rare_specialty/1le/ This vehicle is a documented true 1LE Z28 Camaro that spent the first 8 years of its life as a SCCA Race car. The car was built for and owned by HMR Racing (Heatherwick McDermit) until 1998. HMR Racing purchased this car brand new and immediately upon delivery removed the 5.0L 305ci. Engine and sent it in to General Motors Performance division where they put over ten thousand dollars into balancing and blueprinting the engine, also the car has had the heads milled, which I was told puts the car at 10.5:1 compression. I am not certain of all other work done to the engine and transmission since I was handed the info second hand from the person I purchased the car from. I was told that there was extensive work done to the engine and transmission throughout this vehicle tenure as a SCCA Race car but I can not verify what all has been done. I can tell you that I have never driven a 5.0L vehicle that runs as good and responsive as this one. At the time it was sold in 1998 the car had only 3,337 miles on it! I just recently purchased this 1LE. The guy I purchased it from was the man who bought it from HMR in 1998 (I have included pictures that he had given me of the car in its race attire). The 1LE now has 56,083 actual miles. The car runs excellent, (It is truthfully the most impressive 5.0L car I have ever driven.). The car has been in Michigan for some time and is now in need of restoration. I intended to do the work to this car myself but have since purchased my all time dream car (Pontiac GTO), So I have decided to concentrate my time and efforts on the Pontiac and pass the 1LE on to someone else. The Camaro is the original arctic white color (10U) but has since had orange stripes added. Also the stock aluminum 16" rims have been color matched to the the orange stripes (originally the wheels were white accented). The tires are BFGoodrich Comp T/A 245/50R16's that have great tread (50-75%) The car is complete inside and out. The car was ordered radio and speaker delete (which makes this vehicle even more rare than most) but has since had a AM/FM CD Stereo and speakers added (not working properly). The interior is in nice shape (not perfect) it is all there and would most likely clean up great. The gauges all appear to work correctly with the exception of the tachometer (works, but does not read accurate). There are no rips, tears, burns, etc. The car does run and drive however it needs underbody work to be roadworthy. The car needs full floor pans both left and right. (Left side worse than right), all the steel lines will need replaced (some of which are already beginning to leak), as well as rust/rot in other areas throughout such as core support, bumper areas, etc. I have included underbody pictures so that you can see exactly what you are getting. The body of the car is in better shape than alot of third generation camaros, but also will require some work (I have included detailed photos of the body as well.). This is a project car that we just do not have the time to attend to, but if someone has the time and ability, it is an extremely rare opportunity to own a collectible car that is 1 of less than 480 built, If I had the time I would be restoring this vehicle and keeping it. 2 years ago a true documented 1991 1LE Camaro sold at auction for over 40K dollars. Please let the pictures be your guide. I will also be happy to answer any questions that I can as quickly as possible. We are selling this vehicle through our dealership, so the winner will be required to complete the transaction and cover any and all tax and title fees (depending on the guidelines set forth by your residing state). the vehicle is sold as-is no warrantee, any existing factory warrantee is long since expired. I do reserve the right to end the auction early if I decide to do so. Buyer will be required to cover all shipping costs if they decide not to come pick it up in person (we will assist in any way to the best of our ability to help arrange shipping.) Vehicle must be paid for within 3 days of the end of the auction. We will accept Cash upon pickup, or Bank wire transfer. Thank you for looking and God Bless, Tom
