1971 Chevrolet El Camino SS Summer is here, get ready for shows and cruising in this beauty while being the envy of all your friends! This car is being sold without reserve...the highest bidder will own it, so bid to win!!! Take a look at what else is out there, you will be hard pressed to find another A-body like this one! This is a mostly original car with a solid body, fully matching numbers (Engine, transmission and rear end all match), and NOT held together by plastic filler and duck tape. I have looked high and low before buying this Elkie, everything I saw was either butchered, beat and abused, a pile of rust or, worst of all, modified beyond recognition looking like they fell out of a Pep Boys Catalog. I am a purist, so naturally my goal was to buy an original car and do my very best to keep it that way. This El Camino came from the factory as a special order vehicle, as a result it has some very interesting and rare options, including a Heavy Duty Suspension, small block mated to a 3 speed and factory 12 bolt rear, tilt and power steering, Rearview mirror map light (from what I gather, this is a very rare option). All mentioned options and many more are itemized on the original build sheet taken from under the seat. The car is in perfect condition inside and out, the body and undercarriage are both super clean, the interior is nearly flawless the suspension is tight, mechanically the car is superb...it is a magnificent vehicle all around. The engine has been fully rebuilt less than 8000 miles ago, the car runs strong, does not burn oil, nor does it leak a single drop of oil. The transmission is also in perfect mechanical condition. All other mechanical components have been addressed, including new brakes, new exhaust etc…this car is ready to drive. The car was religiously maintained throughout it’s life, I even the have gas mileage records kept by the previous owner which include the car’s odometer, gallons purchased, miles travelled and the average gas mileage. There is a separate booklet outlining all maintenance and repairs in the same manner…talk about detailed records! The body is in perfect condition, the restoration was completed last year and since that time has only been driven sporadically. Most of the car is original, and since nothing fits like original I had the front fenders replaced with genuine chevy NOS parts (the originals were actually in good condition, but I did not want my car to have patches or be a bondo bucket). The original trim was in near perfect condition with absolutely no rust dents or damage (I would give the condition of the trim an easy 8.5 out of 10), I did replace the bed trim with new pieces as they were less than perfect. I had the worn door hinges replaced, as due to age the doors began to sag, they are now better than new. The “SS” stripes were repainted...yes they are actually painted and are NOT cheap vinyl stickers. The car is further complimented by the original factory SS rims (all 5, including the spare) are flawless . The tires are authentic Goodyear Polyglas and have approximately 95+% of the tread remaining All the glass is nice and clear with no scratches or hazing. The original vinyl top is in outstanding condition. Everything in the car works 100% including all gauges and accessories. The interior is immaculate condition. The dash is all original and in perfect condition, no cracks, no warping. The original working AM/FM radio is still installed. The headliner is original and in perfect condition...no stains, no sagging, no discoloration. The seats (recently professionally reupholstered using O.E. materials) are perfect, the carpeting is like brand new. The door are simply in outstanding condition. The car spent it’s entire life in an enclosed garage so there is absolutely no sun damage. -TERMS OF SALE- I have full faith in the quality of this vehicle and confidence in the accuracy of it’s description, unfortunately disclaimers have become part of life these days hence the following: Buyers are more than welcome, and even encouraged to inspect the vehicle in person BEFORE the auction ends.
