I purchased this truck in March of 2012, now I must sell due to downsizing of my company. This is what the previous owner said about the truck : Grandpaws 1938 Ford Pickup truck. His pride and joy for 40 years, The little flathead V-8 engine fires right up at the touch of the key and immediately brings you back to the days of riding around with Granddad on the farm. Sounds cool too. He was a longtime Ford employee who drove and serviced this truck at the dealership. He purchased the truck from someone in OK. who had purchased it from a gentleman in Ca. This has always been a dry southern truck , which explains how solid it is.( one minor spot of rust on the frame is very repairable- and not bad for a 75 year old vehicle.) Never subjected to salty roads or climates. This truck came black from the factory in 1938 - now it is painted red. Grandpaw had just finished redoing the bed in walnut wood and was about to put in a new gas tank when he fell ill. -- he was forced to stop working. -- Therefore it still needs a new gas tank. ( about $ 149.00) He had it running off a small plastic gas can mounted underneath the bed. I have the original tailgate - still in the original black but it needs to be mounted. Lights need to be hooked up to the switch, all glass rolls up and downfine and the windshield folds out as it should - The spare tire is mounted on the side as stated above the vintage little flat head V-8 engine fires right up and runs great, transmission shifts well.. This truck has never been hotrodded, rawhided ar abused- just driven to and from work.This would make a great Father/son project-neat hotrod- many possibilities!
