Vehicle Detail
We are selling a very well preserved wire wheel example of a Triumph GT6 that is a prime candidate for restoration. This car was discovered in a local home basement in 2006, where it had been dry stored since 1972. The previous owner had stripped the exterior trim back in the 70's with the intention of having the car repainted. Our understanding is that the bonnet had been damaged in a parking lot and the paint on the bonnet and body didn't match following the repairs. At that time he made a choice to paint the entire car, but never got around to it. The body, bonnet and frame are in very good condition with no rust out anywhere on the car. The floors, sills and trunk are all solid, no rust. The primer spots you see were an effort by the previous owner to cover up some bare metal spots and his attempts to do minor dent and ding repairs. The interior was completely trashed and we removed it all. (We think a cat raised several families in it). You can see in the pictures that the interior was black, and surprisingly, the seats survived and stayed with the car, virtually unharmed. The dash and instruments are still very nice......and work. All the glass is in the car. You will need to find many of the small trim parts along with the complete interior. We trailered the car back to our shop, installed new ignition parts, new mechanical fuel pump, clutch master / slavecylinders, strated the car and drove it around the block a few times. It will start and run now, even though we have had it stored in a warehouse for some time awaiting an interested buyer or our own restoration efforts. The car comes with alot of new brake and suspension parts that we have been buying and putting away with the car in antisipation of rebuilding it for a customer or ourselves. The enginei is sound and runs like a clock. Obviously after being in hibernation for all these years there will need to be some attention and TLC paid to the drive train but we believe the milage on the car is original and real, and not much will be required. After all it was only four plus years old when it was parked. The car is being sold under the regular e-Bay auction format and will go to the highest bidder. We have a fair and modest reserve on the car to keep interested buyers in the game. Do not bid on this car if you are not a serious buyer, please! The car can be easily trailered and we will entertian transporting the car within a resonable distance from the current location.
