Normal.dotm 0 0 1 762 4349 TCG Inc. 36 8 5340 12.0 0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false It’s time to sell my 2001 BMW 325 Xi Wagon. I am the second owner and have used it at my house in Buena Vista, Colorado, Illinois and in Wisconsin. It has transported my family all over the country and never left us in trouble or failed in any way. In 2010, I decided to take some mileage pressure off of the BMW and bought a Smart Car for commuting. Otherwise the BMW would have 400,000 miles and not 289,000. Having just moved to a townhouse, (I had six garages and now only one) I’m consolidating into just one car, another wagon. I have the title in hand of course, and I suppose I would not mind driving it to a buyer as long as you pay expenses, so ask if you wish. A little history. While I feel like the original owner, I am not. It was purchased through the BMW European delivery program, delivered in Munich. Then transported to San Francisco and finally Greenville, South Carolina to its first owner. I bought it with 29,000 miles when it was 18 months old and still under warranty. He ordered the car exactly as I would have with every option deleting leather and an auto transmission. The leather would by now have deteriorated, while the synthetic the Germans use is still in fantastic condition. Included is a full set of five BMW mats and trunk liner. I left them out so you can see the condition of the carpeted mats that fit over the carpet. The carpet itself is like new. The spare wheel matches, has the original tire and I don’t remember ever having it on the car. The tool kit is complete and I have the owner’s manual and case. The car drives as if it has maybe 40,000 miles on it. Quite subjective to be sure, but I hear it often. I did not detail the car for the pictures. It is as pictured. Highlights include: Sports package, (seats, steering wheel, suspension, wheels)Xenon lights 5-Speed Rear air bags Navigation Heated Seats, fully electric Headlight washers Rear parking sensors. Sunroof Fog lights Maintenance and part replacement has been exemplary. When I arrived at 150,000 miles in February 2007, I made the decision to keep the car but wanted to maintain a new car experience, so I replaced every suspension part, anything controlling steering, had the wheels trued, replaced rotors/pads and installed new tires. The result was like new. That cost about $4500.00. Well worth it. I over-service the car and never wait for a failure. Oil has been changed with Castrol Synthetic like BMW recommends. It burns no measureable amount of oil, if any. I would say none, but you would think it would have to burn something. I should mention I have a friend who works for BMW and whenever I want to do something, he makes sure I have every tiny part to recreate the factory experience. I have a spreadsheet that has tracked all expenses from 150,000 miles (not fuel). I have spent an average of $245 per month for the last 114 months keeping the car as new as possible. I can email it to you. It is a lot of money, but a new 2014 wagon is $50,000 now. The tires are Bridgestone Potenza RE760 sport. Perfectly aligned and maybe 10,000 miles. I also have a set of snows on the same BMW matching sport wheels that have maybe 4000 miles. The snows and wheels are NOT included and will be sold separately. I also have a BMW roof rack to sell. What does not work perfectly: The heater fan squeaks a bit when it is very cold. The heated drivers seat has a couple hot spots, so I keep it on medium rather than high-still plenty hot. At 95,000 miles the gearbox return spring stopped centering the lever. It’s a sealed unit or I would have fixed it, but it is not an issue…and it’s been 200,000 miles. What will it need: At some point it will need a new clutch. It may seem impossible but the clutch is original. No one can believe it, but it seems I must know how to drive it coupled with lots of highway miles…probably 95%. I’m not suggesting the clutch has a problem. My mechanic agrees there is no sign it needs to be replaced. But let’s face it, it has 290,000 miles on it. The AC has never been a problem or needed servicing. Hard to imagine but it works perfectly. Rust: There are a couple small spots on the A pillars by the windshield. I should mention I replaced windshields every 100,000 miles, so it has had three. If I was keeping it, I would replace it and re-paint the pillars. There are also two spots on the leading edge of the hood and the passenger side rear door has some at the bottom edge. I also backed into a pipe sticking out of a house about 2 months ago and dented the rear hatch door. The rear parking sensors went off, I got out, looked in the dark and saw nothing, and then hit the horizontal pipe. Dumb. Sirius radio is installed through the factory radio. I turned the account off about two years ago, but it still works. I see older BMWs going for record prices. I had a 2002tii that sold for $20,000 four years ago. My E30 was 25 years old and sold high as well. An E46, who knows. But it’s still a great vehicle, all-wheel drive and one of the best BMW has produced. I would have no problem driving it across the country. I am located between O’Hare airport and Milwaukee for anyone flying and driving, otherwise I will cooperate with your shipper.
