Vehicle Detail
This is a true one owner 51 Chevy 5- Window pickup. Original motor, original 3-speed on the tree, this truck is very close to stock. The mileage is true with all the gages working (people like to list crazy low miles on here sometimes, don’t be fooled; the absence of the 6th digit does not mean that the vehicle is unable to get to that mileage. In this truck everything is working including the gauges and speedometer. The story: Gentleman’s Grandfather purchased the truck new in 1951, Grandfather passes away about 15 years ago. The Grandson inherits the truck but has no space for it in his garage. His friend allows him to store the truck in his garage, the Grandson drives the truck into his friend’s garage and it sits there for 15 years when his friend says the truck has to go. I got the truck running, driving, and stopping. I have done a first level inspection. The motor starts and runs very well (except from a little lifter noise which is an easy fix). I replaced all 4 wheel cylinders and flushed the brake system, now the truck stops and does not leaking brake fluid. The brake reservoir cap is missing and has a temporary lid on it, a replacement can be found in a salvage yard or if need be, I can source one for you, $25 at the most. The three speed manual transmission shifts fine through all speeds and the car drives fine. I have taken it to about 40 mph with out any issue have not tried faster as it will need new tires as they are dry and my intention was just to get her running again. Again the truck starts up, drives, turns, stops and all fine. (** Watch the Video**) Everything works on it from radio to lights, but as it has been sitting for a while lube spots should be lubed and such before it becomes a daily driver. The truck has no noticeable leaks and has no abnormal smoking, as you can see from the pictures and video, is in very clean condition. The truck has been repainted and some body work is noticeable in areas, all that was done was done over 25 years ago as is evident from the vintage look of the paint job. I have not done any paint or body work on the truck itself, I installed the bed wood floor and added a little color to the hood emblem. The wealth of pictures and the video would be the best source for judging condition. The body seams very straight and the doors seam to line up very well. This is a true one owner 51 Chevy 5 window with relatively low miles that was meticulously cared for by its owner before he passed away, it was driven regularly before he passed away and it can be driven regularly again. Again radio, fan, lights, instrument lights, dome light, radio, horn… they all work, it will be hard to find one more original in running condition… Enjoy the Video and wealth of Pictures! And…. GOOD LUCK! Remember ... NO RESERVE Highest Bid Gets this Rare Truck! On Jun-03-13 at 10:07:33 PDT, seller added the following information: This truck has been converted to a 12V system.
