1996 Ferrari 355 Spider 1996 Ferrari 355 Spider FOR SALE: On offer is this beautiful 1996 Ferrari 355 Spider. In a sea of red cars, this Swatters Blue over Tan 355 stands out and the color really shows off the beautiful lines of the F355. This car is in excellent condition inside, outside, and mechanically. It includes everything - complete tools, complete books, two keys with fobs (one red, one black) key PIN, tonneau cover... as well as several extras such as a color matched bra, sun deflector, fire extinguisher, etc. The car has been properly serviced including the most recent major service (belts/ tentioners/ fluids/ filters) performed in spring of 2011. Also important to note is the fact that this car has no accident history, and were fairly certain there hasnt been any paintwork done to the car either. Both the Carfax and Autocheck are clean - although its worth noting they each show this car as having "two" owners and were certain it has had "three". Please read through the detailed description and have a look at the numerous photos weve posted. If you have any questions about the car, dont hesitate to email. If youre interested in seeing it in person, contact us to sort out the details. If you would like to have a pre-purchase inspection (PPI) done, please contact us and we can assist with those arrangements. OWNERSHIP/SERVICE HISTORY: Our research (going through records, books, etc) has determined this car to have had only three owners. ˜ The first owner purchased the car brand new in October 1996 and he kept it a through March of 1999 - covering approximately fifteen thousand miles in that time. Service records indicate the car was properly serviced at Ferrari during the first owners possession. ˜ The second owner purchased the car from the initial selling dealership in January of 1999, and the car was sold as certified and included an extended warranty. This gentleman owned the car from spring of 99 through February of 2004. Owner number two traveled approximately five thousand miles during that five year period. Of course the car was consistently serviced at Ferrari dealers during the second owners possession and thats largely due to the fact that the car had an extended warranty plan. ˜ The third owner then purchased the car in March of 2004 and he kept it until March this year - accumulating only about seven thousand miles over his nine years of ownership. Records indicate the car received typical services during that time period and all appear to have been done at Ferrari - not withstanding the tires and other "wear" items. It also passed yearly emissions tests over that last nine years - indicating it was always in top running order. EXTERIOR: The outside of this Swatters Blue F355 Spider is in absolutely gorgeous condition and will definitely not disappoint. As previously mentioned, this car has never been in an accident and it doesnt appear to have had any paintwork outside of the factory. Both doors, the hood, the trunk, and even the gas door all open/close and latch smoothly. All of the gaps around the car are even, each panel fits as it would have the day it were new, and none of the bolts have "been turned". There are some very faint swirl marks from towel drying, but there arent any significant scratches on the car. Of course there are no dings or dents anywhere either. On the lower portion of the front bumper you will see a handful of tiny stone chips, but thats about it. The lack of cosmetic imperfections is a sign of the prior owners conscientiousness towards the car. You can see in the photos that it includes a color matched bra - likely the reason there are so few chips on the front end. Underneath the front bumper there are "horse shoes" that keep the underside from scraping when entering/exiting driveways... another sign the past owners were careful custodians of this Ferrari. INTERIOR: This Ferrari 355 has tan interior that is accented with black trim, and its in great condition. Starting with the seats, youll see they are in excellent shape and dont have the typical shrinking of the seat bottom insert. The seats are also free of heavy bolster damage, and show only the lightest wear. Important to note is these seats havent been re-dyed. Move to the door panels and you will find the leather is tight and fits just as it should. The all important power convertible top also works perfectly. There is slight fading on the outside of the top, indicating its original to the car, but there are no leaks and the rear window is crystal clear. All of the switches, controls, vent surrounds, console inserts, etc are all dry to the touch and dont have the "stickies" issue so many Ferraris had. The only area thats slightly tacky is the inside parts of the vents themselves, and thats easily cleaned because they arent to the point of being gummy. On to the dash, and youll be pleased to see there isnt any of the common pulling and bubbling of the leather from around the windscreen and vents. All the dash leather fits well, and there is only ever so slight wrinkling around the passenger side window vent. I attribute the great condition of the leather inside to the past owners use of a reflective windshield screen while the car was parked, as well as being garaged most of its life. Its important to have these details that you can see so well covered, to be more assured that the underlying care has also been addressed. MECHANICS: Plain and Simple - this car runs superb. The engine starts up without hesitation and it idles and revs smoothly and without issue. We had the car checked out and our Ferrari mechanic inspecting the car spoke about how well it runs and drives. There were no odd fault codes stored, and there are no issues with check engine lights or any other warning lights. *Note the photos showing the gauges in ready position and running - you can clearly see all of the lights operate properly and none of them illuminate while the cars running* The suspension on this Ferrari is tight and there are no rattles or other noises on side streets or on the highway. The brakes are good, and the parking brake works properly too. The transmission shifts without issue up and down through the full gear range, and it does it cold or warm. The clutch engages properly and grips well throughout the RPM range, just as it should. The Pirelli tires are all in great shape and show even wear indicating the suspension is in good order. They measure approximately 80% tread remaining, so you wont have a tire bill anytime soon. This car is turn key and ready to go. IN CLOSING: If theres any questions you have at this point, please email me and Ill get back to you ASAP. We have priced this Ferrari very fairly, and I want to make sure we cover any and all questions you have about the car. If its your first Ferrari, please make sure you do some research on the owners forums to understand what you need to look for when buying a 355 (or any other Ferrari). Far to often people will try to buy a car that costs slightly less in hopes of getting a "deal"... but by the time they add up all of the expenses to make the car "right", they realize they should have just bought a nice car in the first place and probably saved quite a bit of money in the process. Make sure you buy a nice clean Ferrari, and get one that has been well taken care of, and comes complete with tools/books/keys (red & black fobs). Im confident that if you choose this one, it will meet or exceed all of your expectations. Thanks for your time.
