Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a restored 1966 Honda CB450 K0 Black Bomber. My first intention after purchasing the bike from a friend was to build a Café Racer bike, but after looking it over it was a no brainer to do a complete restoration instead. The bike did run and I had it checked out with my local vintage bike mechanic…..very good compression and it ran excellent….so no need to overhaul the engine. It does have a K3 engine with a 5 speed transmission in a K0 bike frame. The frame was straight and it rode straight. So it was decided to spend the money and time to restore it. Almost everything rubber and plastic was replaced with new, either NOS or reproduction. The tank was in excellent condition with no rust present and no need to line it. The frame and swing arm were powder coated at Rick’s Powder Coating in Memphis. The paint work was done by Billy Fowler in Southaven with base coat/clear coat. The re-chroming was done at Memphis Plating-$550. I found some new mirrors that have the Honda Motor Co logo on them. I could not find a decent set of OEM air filters so I used new foam filters. The engine side cover screws were replaced with allen head screws so you can torque them correctly and also remove them without stripping the phillips heads. The seat pan was in great shape so I replaced the worn out seat foam and cover with new. The old rectifier was not putting out enough charge with the lights running so I replaced it with a new diode that puts out the needed 15 volts to keep the battery charged. I kept the vintage rectifier and it will go with the bike sale. The wheels were too rusted so I replaced them with new chrome rims, polished the center hubs, polished the spokes, re-spoked them and re-trued them. The tires are new vintage style rubber. All electrical, speedometer, tachometer, hi low beam headlight and brake lights are in working order. And in true fashion, the bike starts on the first kick without choking the carburetors. The silencers were replaced with new pipes from David Silver Spares in the UK-$660. During the restoration I could not find a correct trumpet horn and it has a 70s era Honda horn. It does have a bonded title which is the way Mississippi does for a bike without a title. It can be transfered in most states. The mileage will vary as I have ridden to Bike Night on Beale Street. I just bought a late model 2009 Harley Davidson Road Glide Screamin Eagle CVO, so it is time for the Honda to have a new home……my loss…. your gain. This bike will make you proud and will get a lot of stares. It is not a 100 point bike, but should win some proud moments. Once funds have cleared, bike can be picked up or shipped at buyers expense. I can help load for the shipper. I am also selling a 2004 Harley Davidson Road Glide FLTR1 on Craig’s List and ebay as well. You can call me anytime at 901 277 4176 if you have any questions. On May-29-13 at 19:27:30 PDT, seller added the following information: You will notice the generator and oil filter covers have been polished to a chrome like shine as well as the top triple tree and handlebar mounts. The front forks were completely gone through. I flushed the inside tubes, put in new oil and new seals and dust wipers. A new drive chain is also installed. The header pipes and hex nuts for the flanges were also rechromed. More details below.
