Vehicle Detail

1969 Triumph Bonneville (Matching Numbers) I bought this Triumph three years ago in Phoenix AZ from a man who claim to be selling the bike for his brother, who he said was the original owner. The bike looked a little rough especially the rubber parts and the paint. On closer inspection I noticed the bike looked completely original, everything, cables, tires, Dunlops all cracked. I also noticed the mileage at 2305 miles that he claimed to be actual mileage. The speedo had the original cable and looking at the engine I had no reason to dispute. It didn't really matter at the time because I had planned a complete restoration. After getting this bike home, I started it right up and rode it, no smoke and ran great with the original points set up. I did a compression test and it came out 130 psi each side. I saw no reason to rebuild this engine and that maybe it was original mileage or at least low mileage. I disasembled the bike, powder coated the frame, tail section, swing arm, center and side stand and some of the smaller parts. I ordered paint from Hutchinsons and the Tank and Fenders were perfectly painted. I replaced all the rubber parts including New Dunlop Gold Seals and UK made Triumph Seat. I left the cables and wiring harness because they were still in good condition. The bike was finished a year ago and in storage since. I took it out of storage last week, put a little gas in, tickled the carbs and it started after about five kicks. Ran it until it settled to an idle than rode it around the storage area. There is a little gas coming out of the right side tickler, but not as bad when I started it today. I suspect the bike needs to be ridden to work everything in. The Wind Tone horns do not work, they did when I got it but after trying to adjust, they stopped making sound. They will need to be rebuilt, they are included in this auction. I see completely restored bikes with lots of after market parts from China and India for between $12,000 and $15,000. This is the real deal, this is the Triumph we use to ride in the 60's. Everything that needed restoring on this bike was restored. Original Dunlop chrome wheels, Triumph Mufflers/Exhaust and Lucas headlight shell and lense (new amp meter and tail light lense). Some of the original fender fasteners had been replaced, not sure why. It's possible that at the time the owner thought that US made hardware looked better. I will help out with all shipping arrangements. I have an account with U-Ship and have been very happy with them. I will use my account to get the best deal and to ship if buyer prefers. I will entertain offers for a few days and if needed will submit to a seven day Bid Auction.
