This is a classic BMW airhead twin. 1994 was the next to last year of production before BMW switched exclusively to the oilhead design for all of their R bikes. This motorcycle is in excellent condition and has been well maintained during my ownership. I have the original keys, manual and tool kit, all of which are included. I purchased this bike used in the summer of 2005 with 8800 miles on it. Shortly after purchasing it, I performed a full maintenance service and tune up including: engine oil and filter change, gear oil change, final drive oil change, fork oil change, brake fluid change, replace fuel filter, valve adjustment to factory spec, fuel mixture adjustment to factory spec, carburetor sync and idle set. Shortly thereafter, I purchased and installed (at a BMW dealer) a new set of Metzler tires. In addition, I purchased and installed a new BMW factory windshield and new BMW factory cases and mounts (purchased from Bob’s BMW in MD). I also sent the factory seat to Sargent and had it re-upholstered. At the end of the summer of 2007, after putting under 2,000 miles on the bike since I bought it, my first child was born, and I gave up riding motorcycles. I had four bikes at the time (all BMW) and I sold all except this one. I prepped it for long term storage by changing the engine oil and filter again, changing the brake fluid again, removing the battery and adding Sta Bil to the remaining fuel supply. I then placed the bike (covered, on its center stand) into a secure, climate controlled indoor storage facility that I own and occupy exclusively. But for starting and running it to operating temperature occasionally over the years, it has been there since August 2007. My family has grown since then, and I’ve finally accepted that I’m just not going to ride motorcycles again, so I’ve decided to sell the last (and best) one. Last week, I installed a brand new AGM battery, aired up the tires, checked and cleaned the carburetor float bowls, primed the engine with oil, crossed my fingers and started it up. It started up as if it had been ridden every week for the last five years. I took it for a short ride to make sure everything is functioning as it should, and I’m pleased to say that it is. There are three cosmetic issues that I know of: the left taillight is secure, but slightly loose; there are some small marks on the instrument panel from my keychain (shown in photos); the wheels are in need of cleaning and polishing as the chrome finish has faded over time. So, with all of that said, this is a 19 year old used motorcycle, I am not the original owner, I only know its history since I’ve owned it, and it’s been in storage for five years. It is being sold as is, with no express or implied warranty of any kind whatsoever, and I would recommend that the buyer perform a full inspection and maintenance service before riding any significant distance.
