Vehicle Detail

wrenchhead28 Store This auction is for my 1996 Ford F-350 Crew Cab pickup truck. I bought it down in Dallas last year to use as a work truck. The first snowfall this it has seen was this year. Unfortunately I broke my leg at the end of December so the truck sat all winter long unused. I was finally able to drive a manual transmission in March, so started using her again for work. So really this truck hasn't seen the salt we are used to here in Chicagoland at all. It has never been used for plowing. This is an F350 Diesel with 228,000 miles on it. It is my daily driver so by the time this auction ends the mileage will be slightly higher. If you are familiar with these diesels you will note that it is not uncommon to get 450,000 miles out of them before they need overhaul. This is one of the reasons I purchased the diesel as I didn't want to deal with a worn out engine. It is difficult to find a Diesel four wheel drive with a manual transmission. I searched craigslist for a long time to come up with this one. Once I found it, flew down and drove it home from Texas. It made it home just fine. It was hard to start when I stopped in St. Louis for the night, but eventually got her fired up and took it right to the Ford garage for a check up. They gave it an inspection and had some suggestions. I had them put new front brakes on her. They repacked the bearings and also replace 4 injectors. They resealed the other 4 injectors. They replaced the wiring harnesses under the valve covers at that time, and changed the antifreeze. I put new batteries in it about two weeks ago. They said it would be fine for a couple hundred thousand more miles. The good: This truck is exceptionally rust free. The mechanics at the Ford garage said they were really shocked by how clean the chassis is and the body has no significant corrosion (just a little surface rust in the bed where it is scratched up). It fires right up and runs very strong, and has a chip in the engine. With a twist of a dial on the dash you can really ramp up the horsepower. It has more power then the average person would ever need. It is a big truck! King of the road. It has a new windshield and two new front tires on it. I have changed the oil religiously since purchasing it. It has the trailer package and the lighting all works fine. (trailer lights included). The exhaust looks new. I put 2500 dollars in it at the Ford garage just after buying it, and it shows. Four wheel drive works great. This monster could pull my house up the street! The bad: The truck is 17 years old. Though the body is rust free, there are a lot of dings and dents. Especially on the bed. The bed looks like a bomb went off in it. My plan was to take it off and put a utility box on it as I do a lot of work remotely. This is up to you. The parking brake needs to be repaired. I use a wheel chock in the driveway, but it really needs to have the brake fixed to be correct. The interior is very bad. Texas heat takes a toll on interior, the last owner took out the original gray seats and put in some newer tan seats. The door panels are gray as is the dash, headliner etc. The door panels in the front of the truck are in very bad condition and need replacement. The windshield needs to be resealed. The last owner replaced it but it is leaking right above the driver seat when it rains. It would cost about 200 dollars to replace the windshield completely. Not sure what a reseal would run. Sometimes a part out of an OBS crew cab pops up on craigslist, so there are interiors up for sale now and then. There is hail damage on the hood. I have a nice hood for it that will be included with this auction. (see pictures) Third gear grinds a little unless you let the engine idle down prior to shifting. Might need syncro's or something. I just drive it as is and compensate. The reason I am selling this truck is my daughter just got a license and needs something to drive to high school for practice. Thinking about a jeep instead. This truck is big and bad. It gets a lot of attention! I have a smaller exhaust tip if you don't like the 10" exhaust. You will get that tip with the truck. It also comes with a paintless dent removal kit. I was surprised at how cheap that paintless dent removal runs, might be a good option for you. Someone put a lot of money into this truck when she was new. It has a lot of potential to be a very nice old body style Ford truck.
