One owner car meticulously maintained by car collector, enthusiast and mechanic. I have been the car's only driver. A few minor dings and stone chips (any chips are touched up done annually) normal with this mileage. Paint on entire car is still shiny, it is kept under carport most of the time. Leather is in reasonable condition, but does have normal wear commensurate with age/mileage as shown in photos, primarily in drivers seat. New owner could restore leather with kit from leatherworldtech dot com to fill age cracks economically to look very good. The majority of the miles are highway miles. Never driven in the snow, car has lived in NC and FL with a couple of cross country trips. No Rust. No issues. Cold Air Everything in the car works with the exception of the driver door remote hatch release, the key remote does work to open hatch. The car has not thrown any codes (engine check light) in the last 70,000 miles. It did throw a EGR code once, after cleaning the EGR valve it never sent a code again. This car has the original clutch, and I would imagine that I could put another 75K – 100K mile on this clutch. I replaced brake pads at 103K miles, the old pads had about 50-60% of the brake lining of the new ones. I had it all apart and had the new pads, and it just made sense to replace them even though not worn out. I carry kayaks and mountain bikes on the roof regularly and drive at 70+mph on the highway. I have never gotten less than 35 mpg on a tank even in primarily city driving, nor have a I gotten better than 40 mpg on any tank (probably due to roof rack and bikes/kayaks). If you remove crossbars and drive 70 mph, you should get about 43-44 highway. Considering the age/mileage I would rate on a scale of 1-10 , the exterior a 9, the car mechanically a 9+ and the interior an 7-8. The carpet in the cargo area has a stain as shown in photos. All scheduled service carried out by owner with the exception of 1 or 2 oil changes done by the dealer. I always use the VW spec synthentic 505.01 oil and a new german Mann (oem) oil filter at each oil change.2 new tires (2000 miles), 2 tires with approximately 50-60% tread remaining, all 4 are high performing Yokohama YK580's. No vibrations, no pulling, no wear problems with tires ever. Major Service @ 103K miles including: Timing Belt Timing Belt Tensioner Water Pump All removed stretch bolts were replaced with new ones during this maint Never in an accident (save one minor 5 mph hit from rear from young girl texting in Burger King drive thru repaired, this was a minor paint scratch). Right from fender was dented from the sidewalk (non car incident) while I was eating breakfast and parked in Bryson City a couple years ago. Fender was replaced and was painted off the car instead of a Dent Doctor fix. It is virtually impossible for even an expert to tell this was done. Triangle Auto body in Durham NC completed this high quality work. Headlights were replaced due to cloudy appearance (normal with age) with new about 1-2 years ago (no, those miracle headlight refinishing kits don't really work) Includes extras: Hidden class 1 trailer hitch and wiring professionally installed Yakama rack towers and crossbars iPod / iPhone direct interface to VW factory Monsoon stereo Features: Heated Seats Traction Control Sunroof Steering wheel audio controls Steering Wheel cruise control Original hatch and hood struts in good working condition.
