1960 TRIUMPH TR3A CONVERTIBLE ROADSTER INCREDIBLE ORIGINAL NEVER RESTORED"BARN FIND" THIS CAR SAT IN SECURE DRY STORAGE FOR OVER 45 YEARS . IT WAS PURCHASED BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER ON JANUARY 4TH 1964 AT JOSEPH GOODMAN IMPORTED CARS ON ASHLEY BOULEVARD IN NEW BEDFORD MASSACHUSETTS WHO IS THOUGHT TO BE THE 2ND REGISTERED OWNER . HE DROVE THE CAR 2 YEARS UNTIL IT DEVELOPED AN OVERHEATING PROBLEM AND WAS PARKED WITH THE INTENTION OF FIXING LATER BUT NEVER WAS AND IT THEN SAT IN STORAGE UNTIL 2012 WHEN WE PURCHASED IT . THE COSMETICS ON THE CAR ARE WEAK DUE TO THE TIME IT SAT UNTOUCHED AND COVERED BUT THE CAR HAS ONE OF THE BEST ORIGINAL RUST FREE BODIES I HAVE SEEN ON A TR3 IN 30 YEARS OF CHASING THEM . THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR IS ALL ORIGINAL PANELS INCLUDING FLOORS , SILLS , ROCKERS , CHASSIS AND BOOT , NO PANELS HAVE EVER BEEN REPLACED OR WELDED AND OTHER THAN LIGHT SURFACE OXIDATION , THERE IS NO SIGNIFICANT RUST . THERE IS A SMALL 3 INCH PERFORATION BEHIND THE BATTERY AREA WHERE ACID FUMES ATE THROUGH BUT NO OTHER I CAN FIND , EVEN THE USUAL BATTERY TRAY IS ORIGINAL WITH INTACT DRAIN HOLE . THERE LOOKS TO BE A LIGHT REPAIR WITH A THIN AMOUNT OF FILLER TO THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR BUT NOTHING STRUCTURAL . THE CAR WAS REPAINTED IN THE EARLY 60'S BEFORE THE 2ND OWNER PURCHASED IT . WE HAVE THE BRITISH MOTOR HERITAGE CERTIFICATE SHOWING THAT IT IS MATCHING NUMBERS WITH ALL THE ORIGINAL TAGS AND ORIGINAL ENGINE ALSO . THE CAR WAS DELIVERED NEW IN SEBRING WHITE WITH A BUILD DATE OF APRIL 27TH 1960 . WE ALSO HAVE THE ORIGINAL BILL OF SALE FROM 1964 WHEN THE PREVIOUS OWNER PURCHASED IT AS WELL AS A SIGNED LETTER FROM THE PREVIOUS OWNER STATING WHEN HE BOUGH IT , THAT IT WAS STORED SINCE 1966 AND THAT HE BELIEVED THE MILEAGE TO BE ORIGINAL . THE CLEAR CURRENT TITLE ALSO STATES IT AS ORIGINAL MILEAGE . THIS IS ALL THE DOCUMENTATION WE HAVE . MUCH OF THE ORIGINAL PAINT AND ALSO THE RED OXIDE FACTORY PRIMER CAN BE SEEN IN NUMEROUS AREAS OF THE CAR WHERE THE REPAINT IS PEELING OFF AND HAS DETERIORATED . WE RECENTLY FRESHENED ALL OF THE MECHANICALS ON THE CAR . WE REMOVED THE HEAD , RESEATED THE VALVES AND REPLACED THE HEAD GASKET . WE ALSO REBUILT ALL OF THE HYDRAULICS , CALIPERS , NEW WHEEL CYLINDERS , BRAKE HOSES , ENGINE HOSES , BELTS , REBUILT THE CARBS , AND CHANGED ALL THE FLUIDS AND THE OIL . WE ALSO REMOVED THE GAS TANK AND HAD IT BOILED OUT AND RESEALED . IT NOW STARTS EASILY , HAS GOOD OIL PRESSURE AND RUNS AND DRIVES GREAT WITH GOOD POWER AND TORQUE . IT IS STILL CURRENTLY SITTING ON ORIGINAL DUNLOP ROAD SPEED TIRES WHICH ARE HARD AND DRY AND REALLY NOT A GOOD IDEA FOR DALIY USE BUT WE LIKED THE LOOK FOR THE TIME BEING SO LEFT THEM ALONE , MAYBE TO BUY A NEW SET AND KEEP THOSE AS AN ORIGINAL SET ? IT ALSO COMES WITH THE ORIGINAL DUNLOP ROAD SPEED WHITEWALL SPARE TIRE , FACTORY TOOLS , JACK , ORIGINAL TONNEAU AND BOOT COVER AND SIDE SCREENS . THE UNINITIATED COULD EASILY LOOK PAST THIS CAR AS JUST ANOTHER TR3 NEEDING A RESTORATION BUT THE TRUE TRIUMPH ENTHUSIAST WILL IMMEDIATELY SEE WHAT IT IS AND KNOW HOW RARE IT IS TO FIND A CAR LIKE THIS IN THIS ORIGINAL CONDITION . OVERALL IT WOULD BE A VERY GOOD CAR TO WORK WITH TO MAKE AN EVERYDAY DRIVER WITH NOT MUCH WORK AT ALL AND JUST DO SOME COSMETICS TO KEEP IT AS A SURVIVOR WITH THE ORIGINAL LOOK OR COULD ALSO BE A GREAT BASIS FOR A CONCOURSE TYPE RESTORATION BUT THAT WILL BE THE NEW OWNERS CHOICE .
