Vehicle Detail
wrenchhead28 Store I have decided to part with my 1965 Dodge Dart. This car was originally from California so she has no real rust at all. There is some very light surface corrosion on some of the exposed metal, but as you can see in the pictures the rockers, trunk, undercarriage are all really unbelievable. I don't think this car has ever seen snow. I purchased it to fix up as a surprise for my wife, but really don't have the time right now to do anything with it. It would be fun to drive to cruise nights this summer so I'm probably going to miss it! The car runs great. The odometer shows 24,000 but I am sure that is 124,000 miles. The slant 6 starts right up every time. The previous owner bought it in CA, and drove it here. The only problem he had was with the generator, which he replaced and completed the journey. He commented on how easy it was with the big engine compartment. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. It is a manual transmission (three on the tree). Doesn't leave an oil stain (though the engine is kind of oily) The bad: As you can see from the pictures the car appears to have been sideswiped on the passenger side. I was thinking about calling one of the paintless dent removal guys to see what it would cost to fix, but never did. The worst spot is the front passenger fender. I purchased a good fender from a 1964 Dart which looked like it would work, but the front valance area is a little different. The existing fender can probably be repaired by a good bodyman, but I wanted to keep it simple. I am a welder by trade and planned on drilling the spot welds out of the valance area and using the 65 valance on the 64 fender. It would work perfectly. We can talk more about that if you want to email me about it. The paint can probably be polished out, but I wanted to re-paint it anyhow. The front bumper looks bad, but I have a good replacement front bumper that will be included with this auction. I didn't photograph it because it is up in the attic in a large cardboard box. Hopefully I can get a picture of it this week but either way you will get a good bumper to replace the bent one with. The interior is really damaged from the sun. When I picked it up the headliner was coming apart, dumping the fibers down my shirt collar. It didn't take long to decide just to pull the headliner completely out. The seats are kind of blown out too. I couldn't decide whether or not to reupholster them or replace them with buckets. All the interior is original. Very basic, no radio, no a.c. Also included is a set of Rally (Ralley?) wheels. There are 5 of them with no tires which you will get. None are very pretty, I was planning on sandblasting them and painting them black. They each have trim rings and center caps. The glass is all good. The windows are rolled down in the pictures. They roll up just fine. Spare tire is shot. There are a couple of new oil filters included. The 65 Dart is a neat car. Very affordable hot rod. Fairly easy to find parts for as I believe there are many similarities to the Barracuda and Valiant of that year. Drop a v8 in her on a weekend and burn the tires off. This one has been garage kept since I acquired it. You won't be disappointed with this car. No Reserve. I am all in! Please email me with any questions. Thanks for looking!
