Vehicle Detail
You are viewing an incredible 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle 300 Deluxe sedan. This is a no-reserve auction, by an individual, not a dealer.I am also selling separately on e-bay my 1967 Ford F100 pick up, also in excellent condition and at no reserve. Both of these vehicles are being sold due to my impending retirement and my son needing funding for his college tuition. Please see the other listing if you are interested in the 1967 Ford F100. To be clear, this auction is for the 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle 300 Deluxe sedan only. Ownership History: The Chevelle originally belonged to the same family for about 45 years of its life. The original owner pampered the car like no other. As he was nearing the end of his life, it was his heart’s desire for the car to receive a complete restoration. While his health continued to spiral, he kept daily tabs on its restoration as the car meant the world to him. After the passing of the gentlemen, the car’s restoration was completed and the car was later sold by the estate. I am the 2nd and current owner of the car, having owned the car since Fall 2011 and while in my ownership, the car has always been garaged in middle TN. I had conducted an extensive U.S. search for a very well maintained, unmolested antique car with minimum owners. If you are an antique car collector you know how challenging this can be. Upon seeing pictures of the car and learning more about it from the gentlemen’s estate, I quickly completed the transaction to acquire the automobile. I have thoroughly enjoyed having and driving the car. It has been a sheer pleasure seeing strangers snap pictures of it as I drive it around town. About the Chevelle: This Chevelle presents a rare opportunity to own an exceptionally clean classic car that can be a daily driver and looks like a show winner without having to mortgage the farm. Just within the last week or two, I noticed the speedometer has stopped working at 63,999, however, the car has no more than 64,200 actual miles on it. I'm sure the speedometer repair will be an easy fix. I do drive it on the occasional nice weekend. The majority of the restoration was completed in 2011 by the original owner. All cosmetic work was completed before the car was sold by the estate. The only work that I have done since owning the car is I had the transmission professionally overhauled and new brakes installed on all wheels (new pads & cylinders). The car also has a fresh tune-up (new plugs, plug wires, points, & condenser). The car is beautifully finished in its correct Artesian Turquoise Metallic paint which is laser straight. I cannot find a single spot of bondo or filler of any kind. The sheet metal looks to be all original. The paint job on this car is probably nearly $8,000 alone, perhaps more in some shops. The interior color is Light Fawn, which is an offshoot of Tan. The carpets and headliner have been replaced as well. The car is powered by a matching numbers 194ci six cylinder mated to the optional Powerglide transmission. Other rare options are Superlift air shocks, heavy duty front and rear suspension, and power steering. There were only 27,100 sedans produced in 1966 and most have been crushed or wrecked by now. There are probably less than 1,000 left in the world today and this ultra clean, very original and investment grade example is quite a find in a 300 Deluxe sedan. There are many 2 door cars out there that people have raced out but very few sedans actually exist. You may have noticed, the value of sedans are starting to climb in line with coupes. I personally expect this increase to continue, thus making this sedan a sound investment. The vin decodes as: 1 - Chevrolet 33 - Chevrolet 300 Deluxe 69 - 4 door sedan 6 - 1966 model year K - Kansas City, MO. assembly plant 126074 - sequence number Its Data Plate decodes as 706A which is - Light Fawn Vinyl/Rideau cloth bench (seat has been replaced with vinyl) K-K - Artesian Turquoise Metallic 3K - Lacquer paint 120hp - 194 six cylinder engine Powerglide transmission Its options include Powerglide, Power Steering, Heavy Duty front and rear suspension, and superlift rear air shocks. The bottom line here is that this car is very practical and useable. It was very modestly ordered when new, which truly makes the car very special in its own way. The car did not even come with a radio, can you imagine the salesman actually asking you if you would like a radio or not? It’s like time has stood still when you experience this car. Its charm seems to capture everyone who looks at it. It would probably win awards and trophies at most local car shows around the country. With just a few minor things, it could probably be placed in a museum. As a driver show car, it is unquestionably the best available. The car will start and drive every time you turn the key. It purrs down the highway laser straight. With the power steering the car can turn on a dime with just a flick of a ladies pinky finger. If you are looking for a race car or a hot rod, this car is not for you. If you are tired of looking all over for a correct nice original car which is like showroom new then this one is for you. I have driven this car all around middle TN on the highway and in the city. It runs absolutely fantastic. I would not hesitate to hop in this car and drive it a long distance. Do not worry, many cars for sale look nice in the photos but when you see them in person they are terrible. I have had that experience many times. I saw a Shelby Mustang which looked like a show car and when I arrived to see it, it belonged in the junk yard. To replace this car would be very difficult. As you can see in the photo gallery, the old man took care of this car like it was a person. The original owner’s manual with its mileage and date notes give you an idea of how the car was cared for. As he aged he elected to have his baby restored and here you have it. You won’t find this type of situation very often so please consider this investment grade car. It would be my strong desire for the next owner to continue the care that this car has experienced all of its life. As far as I am concerned it would be a sin to the original gentlemen not to continue that pride maintaining the originally of the car.
