Vehicle Detail

For sale here is the Triumph TSS (Triumph Super Sports). This was the last and best Bonneville. Production numbered just over 400 total with 112 export models as seen here. This was literally one of the very last and most exotic bikes ever to be built at the Triumph Meriden Plant. Production was 1982-83 only and abruptly ceased when the factory closed for good accounting for their scarcity. These bikes are extremely rare and a must have for the serious collector. The main attraction of the T140W TSS was the 8 valve head designed by Weslake Engineering. Also included was a new forged crank with increased big end diameter. This crank was stiffer and better balanced. When coupled with the new beefier con rods, most of the notorious vibration from the venerable parallel twin was eliminated. The head allowed 9.5:1 (some say 10:1) compression and produced a 20 percent increase in power adding 10 HP over a standard Bonnie. The motor produced a major increase in useable mid-range power and with brakes and suspension to match, became a real contender in the early 80's market. A TSS raced by Jon Minonno dominated the Battle of the Twins races in 81-82. I got this bike ina package deal with another rare Triumph. My storage is limited so , as much as I enjoy the TSS, it must go. This bike is in original unrestored condition with a lovely light patina of age. The paint still shines like a mirror, no dents and any scratches are so small I can't photograph them. The seat has no rips or tears. The original spec Avon Roadrunner tires have full tread although I don't know their age. They are mounted on the optional Morris alloy wheels. This bike has been brought up to the European specs with the Amal MK II carbs replacing the problematic Bing constant velocity type. Exhaust is Euro spec as well and very sweet indeed. People turn and stare as the tone goes from a sedate song to a rippin' shriek as the revs climb....All the electrical accessories work as they should - lights, dash, French Veglia gauges, electric and kick start and recent battery (always on tender). The trick Euro influence is front and center with the Italian made four gallon tank and Paoli fuel stops as well as the Marzocchi air/oil "Strada" adjustable rear shock setup. Low bars and German Bumm mirrors complete the look. Brakes are a three disc set from Lockheed. The transmission works well in all 5 gears. I see no smoke when off choke, and oil leakage is minimal. Even the little stuff is unmolested, toolkit, 2 sets of original keys (6 keys: tank, ignition, fork lock), ignition switch cover, and the unobtainium socket caps for the side covers which are frequently lost. The previous owner treated the bike to an oil cooler. This is by far the best Brit bike I've ridden. I love the riding position, and once on the throttle it really is addictive. Also included with the sale: 1 replacement parts manual (indispensible), and 2 owners manuals (1 for Amals, 1 for Bings). The winning bidder will have the option of purchasing the following collection of spares for $500: Two 0.010" over pistons with rings Two Bing 004814 carbs with all clamps and rubber bits seven Bing carb cables Original reflectors for use if oil cooler removed Valve cover inspection gaskets sump gaskets and various other oil drain o-rings etc. Throttle cable for Amal carb setup Tss side emblems silver - worn Primary inspection plug ignition switch cover Pair correct Paoli style petcocks - repop one spare turn signal lense Bid to win - no reserve. I encourage inspection prior to bidding - sale is final. I reseve the right to cancel bids from low or no feedback members - if in doubt, contact me. The folks looking at this bike are serious - don't scew up the auction. $500 Paypal deposit due at auction end - no refunds. Balance upon pickup. Funds must clear. Title is in my name and ready to go. Best of Luck!!!
