Vehicle Detail

Available here we have a 1968 Dodge Charger with a 440 4-barrell and a 727 torque-flight automatic transmission. This car is pretty solid and is ready for restoration. The 440 spins free, it is not stuck. The car seems to have been painted an interesting ‘pearl white’ sometime in the early eighties - and I bet it looked really good back then. But the fact that the body shop added filler in some typical areas now makes the outer body look somewhat unappealing. The car is mostly complete – and is a console car. She seems to be only missing a few trim pieces. While the chassis of the car is very solid, the outer body – especially the left side of the car – is where some typical sheetmetal replacement needs to take place. All of the items needed are common parts that are available at your local or national MOPAR restoration supplier, like quarter panels, left rocker and driver’s floor pan. The chassis/frame of the car is in great shape. I found no soft spots anywhere on the frame rails, torsion bar mounts, etc – and I’ve taken over 100 pictures so that you can see each area. The full floor pan actually seems to be very nice – only one section (at the driver’s feet) is in need of replacement. The car seems to be an original undercoat car and I found no evidence of panel replacement or other accident remnants. She is very straight. From what I see, I bet with a fresh battery, a new set of plug wires and a bottle of gas, she might fire up. She last ran about 5 years ago. The hard-to-find grill is in good shape. You can see in the pictures that there are no teeth missing and the entire operational assembly appears complete. I like the front seats, but they are not original to the car – my guess is that they are from a 64 Galaxie. The previous owner purchased a new black carpet for the car (in pictures, in the box) and that comes with the car. I just un-sealed the box to take a picture. The 440 has a thermo-quad 4-barrell carburetor, headers and dual exhaust. Stamping on the top pad of the block looks like a ZT440, but I can’t be sure. On the block casting is 4006630-440-3 and you can see that in the picture I took. For information about this 440 block, please visit www.440source.com/blockinfo.htm . These are actually good 440 blocks for performance projects. The car is an original F-code, so it was a 318 car from the factory. VIN XP29F8B2xxxxx. The car is located in East Baltimore, MD and you are welcome to schedule an appointment with me to review the car in person before the auction ends. The car has a clear MD title in my name. I am not a dealer (contrary to what people seem to take of my user name), I am simply a retiree that enjoys playing with, collecting and restoring 60s musclecars (I wish I could keep them all). Therefore, I cannot help you finance your project; and I accept cash. As my user name indicates, I am a FORD guy – but I will be happy to attempt to answer any questions about this car you might have. Yes, I have the keys, too. We all know how desirable and hard-to-acquire these Chargers are, so don’t miss your opportunity. Step one of your next musclecar project is acquiring the right car! A 68 Charger with a 440 certainly gets you more ‘street credit’ than most others… Full collection of pictures available here - http://s1267.photobucket.com/user/MuscleCarRescue/library/1968%20Dodge%20Charger%20440 On Mar-29-13 at 07:37:37 PDT, seller added the following information: ** I reserve the right to end the auction early since I have a local buyer potentially. If the EBAY Buy-it-Now is first, then it will be honored. If the local buyer completes the transaction, I will delete the auction immediately. On Mar-31-13 at 06:20:26 PDT, seller added the following information: FYI - My auction only sells to the US. If you would like to bid on the car from outside the US, you must know that my payment terms are CASH, as it states in the Payment Details. If you cannot pay CASH, I cannot complete the transaction with you. If you can pay CASH and are outside the US, please send me a message and I will allow your bids to pass through. I have sold cars to other countries before - it's not a problem, but I am not taking a check. I just unblocked 3 bidders from various countries in Europe that claim they can pay CASH.
