Vehicle Detail
This 1977 Chrysler Town & Country Station Wagon belonged to the owner of the Lykken Chrysler dealership in Grafton, North Dakota. It was one of fifteen cars that the owner kept for himself, and out of those 15 cars this was the only station wagon in the group. It was kept in the family and used for family vacations. When their dealership closed down, the vehicles were put in storage, where they remained for 15 years, until they were all sold in auction by the family last year. It was then that the Motion Unlimited Museum bought this wagon. They went through the car to ensure its proper running condition. I bought the car from them and have enjoyed it immensely this past year. However, I simply have too many cars and need to sell a couple. The 1977 Chrysler Town & Country was the most expensive station wagon you could buy. It has the 440 V-8 engine. This car has every power option imaginable, including power windows, power door locks, power antenna, signal-seeking radio, and split front seats with 6 way power driver and reclining passenger seat (rare for this time in big American cars). The car has a roof rack and AC. And it is the only wagon you can buy with tilt AND telescoping wheel. They were also the biggest on the inside, where you could have a 4x8 sheet of plywood and still have the front seats all the way back and still close the tailgate. Chryslers were considered the best "engineered" cars and were known for their handling and full set of gauges on the dash. One dash feature includes a low fuel light and the center-access glove box. The glove box is centered, metal, and has a coin dispenser. There is also a map light on the dash. This Town and Country wagon is an untouched original car, not restored or modified in any way. It is not perfect but it is extremely nice. There are some minor scratches and dings, with one small rust spot, which I have photographed. The exterior paint is in excellent condition, the woodgrain is very nice, but with some tiny chips as expected. The glass is all perfect, and the chrome and brightwork are excellent, with the exception of the two rear bumper guards that have rust on them (funny, the chrome is miont except for these two pieces). The chrome roof rack with applied wood grain is excellent as well. The interior is in excellent condition, as the pictures show. The car has 110k miles. Everything on the vehicle is in proper working order, with the exception of the gas gauge. My mechanic tells me it’s just the sending unit. Actually that is the only real issue with the car. I keep the gas tank full, but when the gas tank gets low the car tends to run a little rough. My mechanic tells me it’s a tell-tale sign of some sediment in the tank when the car was in storage. So it might be wise to explore fixing that if you plan on long trips. I drive the car locally and have chosen to keep the tank topped off. Lastly, the AC works, but it needs re-charging. This Town and Country is a total beast. It looks amazing and people literally freak out when they see it floating down the road. I am dumbfounded when I see the prices of many of these wagons these days. There is a 1971 Ford Country Squire wagon for sale for $12k in Hemmings right now. This Chrysler has so many more options. I feel my “buy it now” price is very reasonable, considering you will be buying an extremely unique car that turns heads everywhere you go. There are simply not a lot of these luxury wagons out there. By all means call me with any questions about this car. My name is John, cell is 781-789-9181. Buyer is responsible for shipping costs of this vehicle. Full payment is due within 7 days. I am a private seller, car is located near Boston, Massachusetts.
