Vehicle Detail

1965 VW Deluxe 13 window project Bus, it doesn't run or drive as it has no engine. All 24 pictures shown were taken 12-12-2012 I bought this bus back in April of 2010, its original motor and transmission were gone, more than likely taken to be used in a Baja or an off road vehicle. Luckily the rear end of the bus was sitting in sand, and the bus must have been taken off the road at some point in the early 1970's, as the frame/underside is in good shape for a Northeast Bus. Some things that were missing up me removing the bus: steering box/column, deluxe steering wheel, deluxe clock, middle seat, gas tank, and rear bumper. The bus now has a '63 small nut transmission installed (unknown condition), '60 steering box/column, and correct deluxe steering wheel. When I bought the bus, it came with the correct rear bench seat and front seats. All the interior deluxe panels are there, but no rubber floor mats. The deluxe jail bar ends are on the rear hatch, but I do not have the bars or the middle post. There is no gas tank or engine, so again this is a non operable Bus. The Bus comes with a non-deluxe front slash end bumper, and a pointed end rear bumper blade and one vertical upright. The worst metal area's that may need to be replaced or patched are : all 4 jack points, all 4 outriggers, passenger side rocker, a few areas of the cargo floor, drivers side long rocker, passenger side rear corner and battery tray, drivers side non battery tray area, roof area above rear hatch, area's of the passenger side rear hatch jam, and some areas of the lower A pillar on the passenger side. All of these area's aren't necessary to replace in order for the bus to be enjoyed, but if you are planning a full restoration these are the area's that would need attention. Other things worth noting : the front nose is dented along with the passenger side head light bucket area, the roof has some small dents above the cargo door area, and the drivers door has a dent. All of these can be pulled, pushed or hammered out, as the metal in VW buses are fairly thin. The drivers door I can't get open, the latch on the door itself is stuck. The bus can be steered for transport by opening the drivers door window. One non original VW issued key works all doors and ignition. The headliner is moldy and will need to be cleaned or removed. The rest of the interior panels are in good shape but need a good cleaning. Paperwork : If you are from out of state, or not within the USA, the bus will come with a Transferable Maine Registration and a signed bill of sale. The Maine registration acts as the current Title, and this registration is transferable by filling in the back of it to the new owner. I'm not able to obtain the original Title. Any other paperwork that the buyer needs for their state or country, other than the transferable registration and bill of sale that I provide, is the buyer's responsibility. I've sold 3 buses out of the country(UK) and the transferable registration and bill of sale was all the paperwork that was needed. Before you bid on this Bus, make sure that the above mentioned paperwork will enable you to get it into your country. Thanks! The bus is located in Bath, ME 04530, and rolls and steers for easy transport. Bus can be picked up here on site with a single or double car trailer, but nothing bigger as I do not have enough room for you to turn around. If needed, I can meet you at a nearby parking lot off of route 1 here in Bath. Winning bidder has 14 days to make arrangements for bus removal, or to have me meet up with your hired shipper. I will work with you on this if the two weeks is not enough time, and can also keep the bus here on my property for an extended period of time if the bus is completely paid for in advance. It will be in good company as there are other split buses to hang with. Winter is nearly here in Maine, it will snow. Last year was a mild Winter and this year we will not be so lucky! So it would be great for the winning bidder to get this bus sooner than later. If you are not a local buyer, not a problem at all. I can meet your shipper at a local truck stop a few miles from my house. I have past experience with transporting Split Buses to shipping company's car haulers. Many more pictures available upon request. Some pictures that are not shown, but can be seen by contacting me, may show parts that are packed into the bus. None of the loose parts are included in the this auction. Thanks, and good luck.
