Vehicle Detail
This is not your father's Honda, It is a Real cafe racer true to form and function. Light & Fast! This bike started off as a 1980 Honda CB 650. She was disassembled, cleaned up, customized, painted and rebuilt to create an authentic cafe racer in the true spirit of the style, which means this bike was modified for speed and handling rather than comfort. Everyone who sees this bike falls in love with the style, simplicity and speed. I get constant thumbs up and nods of appreciation when riding this bike and so will you! Below is a comprehensive list of custom features: - Rear Cowl was handmade out of fiberglass, smoothed out and measured professionally to make it perfectly symmetrical. The rear light built into the rear cowl illuminates when the key is turned to the on position. - Seat was custom made to fit the handmade rear cowl perfectly with red stitching to compliment the red pinstriping. - Frame was slightly shortened, with excess parts removed to save weight and the two ladder pieces on the rear of the frame were professionally welded to round the back to give it that beautiful factory look. - Gas tank came from a Honda CB 750 and provides a more elongated tear drop shape, which really gives the bike a nice stretched look, especially when complimented by the custom rear cowl. - Shorty exhaust was added for performance and to help save weight. It was then painted a flat back to blend with the rest of the bike. - Front fender was shortened to reduce weight, reduce drag and cleaned up the look staying with the minimalistic style. - Rear brake light is a thin strip of LED lights on the rear of the frame, so it doesn't interfere with the lines of the bike and adds the least amount of weight possible. - Shorty handle bars replaced the factory bars to help reduce drag at speed and gives a sharper handling feel. - Turn signals and side mirrors were removed, while one handle bar mirror was added on the left side. This helped reduce weight and drag, and cleaned up the look quite a bit. - A nice discreet license plate holder was added and is curved to blend with the bike's style. - Frame, Rims and All body pieces were sanded down and painted. - Electric start(very convenient), Front/Rear Disc brakes(stops on a dime) and 5-speed transmission with standard layout. - Engine is a super-clean 626cc SOHC four-cylinder, eight-valve engine, which stock produced 63hp @ 9000rpm. When stock this engine's performance was comparable to 750cc motorcycles of the same era. This was honda's last SOHC aircooled straight-four engine. To make the bike faster, a jet kit was added to the engine along with twin K&N air filters and a custom 4 in 1 shorty exhaust, which when combined is good for a 10%-15% increase in power and improved throttle response. She pulls really hard in all 5 gears and has a really nice raspy, throaty exhaust note that begs to be opened up. With the extra power she still gets about 50-60mpg. This bike has been an absolute joy to ride, but I just don't have the time for her anymore with the other projects I have and I want her to go to a good home. She was built to ride and enjoy, so has a few small imperfections, as you would expect from a bike that is ridden, but otherwise is in great condition. I have more pictures and a few videos of her running, so you can hear what she sounds like, so feel free to ask. The mileage is most likely accurate at 17,546miles, but couldn't be confirmed, so title says 0. The speedo only maxes out at 85mph, if your curious why I explain the law back then below before payment and shipping information. Suggestions & Maintenance: 2 keys will be included, could use a new front tire(back tire is virtually new), cables (clutch & accelerator) should be better sized, battery is in good condition, could use some routine maintenance like an oil change and the bike does leak a little. It is from the engine head gasket on the top end, just near the exhaust outlet of cylinder #1, just began leaking a tiny bit. The shifter seal is leaking a little too, both are straight forward fixes and known issues with these bikes. I don't have a place to work on them else I would have done it myself. There are a few rock chips here and there as I mentioned before, chip where the handle bars lock when using kick stand(difficult to see) and the headlight bezel has a small scoff on the chrome. I pride myself on my honesty and integrity, so have explained everything to the best of my ability. 85 speedometer explained: "On September 1, 1979, in a regulation that also regulated speedometer and odometer accuracy, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) required speedometers to have special emphasis on the number 55 and a maximum speed of 85 mph (137 km/h). However, on October 22, 1981, NHTSA proposed eliminating speedometer and odometer rules because they were "unlikely to yield significant safety benefits" and "[a] highlighted '55' on a speedometer scale adds little to the information provided to the driver by a roadside speed limit sign." - wikipedia Deposit: $500 deposit, due within 48 hours of auction close. Full payment required within 7 days after auction close. Seller may make exceptions assuming terms have been agreed upon by both parties, in writing, Prior to the end of the auction. It is and will be fully functional when shipped and responsibility is transfered to shipping company. However, this is an older motorcycle and some routine maintenance will be expected. All issues are explained to the best of my knowledge and ability. I take great pride in my integrity and honesty, and realistically due to their age, mechanical issues may arise, that are out of my control and knowledge.
