1985 Chevy Corvette Z51 Coupe - 72k original miles! Offered for sale is this very clean & original example of the early C4 Corvette, with very low miles & in excellent condition. It is a rust free car, has been in California since new, & is offered for sale by the 2nd owner. As you will see below, this Sebring Silver on Graphite leather car is very well equipped with the right combination of options, including the L98 350 V8, 4+3 manual transmission, leather sports seats, glass roof, & more. Here are the details… Engine & mechanical- As most enthusiasts know, ’85 was the first year that offered Tuned Port Fuel Injection (TPI) for the small-block 5.7 liter 350 V8. This gave the car a much-needed power & torque bump from the previous Cross-Fire Injection, as well as much improved drivability & fuel economy. In this car, the 230 HP engine is mated to the rare 4+3 manual transmission with the electronic overdrive, & a 3.07 rear axle ratio. A new clutch was installed in 2010, all maintenance is up to date & has been professionally done, & the car runs & drives very nice. This car has the all-important Z51 performance handling suspension package, the original 16” alloy wheels wrapped in almost-new high performance tires, & strong 4-wheel disc brakes that work flawlessly. Body, paint & exterior- As mentioned above, this car has been in CA it’s entire life, therefor there is no rust to speak of. It is accident & damage free, & is wearing beautiful original paint. Other than some typical light chips & blemishes, the only spots on the entire car that need attention are the passenger door which has some deeper scratches (see picture), the power antenna mast is missing (new part included in sale), & the front bumper has some chips as well. Otherwise, this is a beautiful, well preserved example that shows very nicely! Interior- One of the weak points on early C4 Vettes is the interior, it usually doesn’t stand up to the test of time very well. Not on this car…take a look at the pictures! While it may not be perfect, compared to most cars of this age (especially GM products) the interior is amazing! The leather seats are almost without flaw, both seats showing virtually no wear to the leather bolsters. The headliner looks great, all the various trim pieces, switches, & panels are all in place and looking good. The dash is very nice & has no cracks, all electrical items appear to work properly, the carpets look fabulous, & the rear cargo area isn’t sun faded & has a working retractable sun-shade. The only real issues I can find in the interior is the carpet on each door panel is just starting to separate below the armrests, there is moderate wear to the leather on both the steering wheel & shift knob (not torn), & the trim piece around the driver door lock is missing (new part included in sale). Otherwise, this has to be one of the finest early C4 interior I have seen. Also included in the sale is a box of spare interior parts, including some weather stripping, trim pieces, & a complete interior screw set. Options, accessories & extras- This car comes well equipped with the most desirable options, including the Z51 suspension package as mentioned earlier. Take a look at the option code sticker in the picture for more details, but to sum up it comes with a power driver’s seat, power door locks, rear window defroster, transparent removable glass roof panel, manual air conditioning, dual heated power mirrors, high performance suspension with gas shocks, 3.07 axle ratio, oil cooler, cruise control, 108-amp alternator, Doug Nash 4-speed manual transmission, 16” alloy wheels, & Delco Bose sound system with cassette. Also included is the original owner’s manual & books, the new interior parts as mentioned earlier, & a complete fitted floor mat set including one for the rear cargo area. Summary- What a fantastic car for the money!! There are not many genuine 150 MPH cars you can buy in this condition for this price. This car is also a potential investment as the C4 Corvette prices have clearly bottomed out, & will only go up in the future. This example runs well & is ready to be driven anywhere, it’s been maintained properly, has all the right options, & looks fantastic.
