Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is this 57 Bel Air hardtop 4 door. I bought this car as a driver for myself, but I use a truck way too much so plans have changed. The car had some substantial rust. The entire perimeter of the trunk was rusted as well as inner rear fenders. It has some holes in the floors but they are not gone by any means, mostly in the corners. The inner and outer rockers need replaced and you can see the exterior problems in the pictures. The B pillars are in great shape (VERY IMPORTANT, as these are not available as far as I know). I had a parts car left from a previous project, so I put the trunk floor and inner fenders from that car in. It needs some tidying up for a nice job, but structurally it's good to go and won't take much for a smooth job. I fiberglassed in the holes in the floors so it's driveable. The glass is pretty good, windshield and back glass are good. There are two side windows cracked. Stainless is all in really good shape. You can see in the pics the pieces that are not on it. I have the insert for the driver's side and the side trim with the exception of the front spear. Other than that it's all there. Chrome pieces are pitted. The car is VERY original. It has 99,xxx miles on the odometer and I believe it is accurate and not turned over. Almost everything works and has original wiring in good shape. Guages work, heater blower works, wipers work, guage lights work, tail lights work, horn works, glove box light and lighter even work! The dome light isn't in it and the turn signals worked until I burnt a wire welding in the trunk. The headlights don't have power to them, I'm pretty sure it's the switch. I don't have keys to it, so it starts right up with a screwdriver. :) Now for the good parts, the engine runs BEAUTIFULLY! No ticks, knocks, or smoke. The transmission shifts fine, but has a leak in the plug. Front end and steering are pretty tight and brakes work great. I have been driving it back and forth to work...I don't know if it's ready for the highway yet, but starts right up and drives great around town. It's got the original 283 with original carb, breather, generator, manifolds, etc. This car is very original. As you can tell it needs a total restoration, but this is a great car that you can drive while you work on it or tidy it up for a cool ride with great patina! I've tried to describe as accurately as I can. If you have any question, please feel free to ask...I want the buyer to know what they are getting. This is a good 57 that can be had for a great price.....there aren't many affordable drivers out there. Good luck! Delivery is available, check with me for a quote.
