Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 1972 Duster 340 Twister. Please read carefully as I will try to be as descriptive about the car as I can be. I purchased this car from a guy in PA in late 2007 with 97,850 miles. The car originated from Ohio (if I remember correctly). I've only put just over 1000 miles on the car since purchasing 6 years ago which gives it no justice. The car currently has 98,880 miles on it. I have the build sheet from under the seat. Please e-mail me if you'd like a PDF copy sent by e-mail. It's a true 340 car. If you read into the build sheet this was originally a Silver metallic color. At some point there was a restoration done (I didn't get all of the facts about the build/engine so I can only present what I know). The car is yellow with all of the correct stripping for the 340 with the Twister decals) and the title reads 'yellow'. The motor features a Holly 650 double pumper carburetor, 360 heads, a "mild" cam (don't have specs.), Heddman Headers, and a true dual exhaust with the correct exhaust tips. The interior is all black with bucket seats and a floor console shifter. The passenger's seat is the only spot that I have ever seen an imperfection with the interior except for maybe the back dash pad which could probably be removed and painted with a vinyl interior black. The gauges and all of the lighting system works. There seems to be a line lock set up (not currently hooked up) which could be an indicator that this was used at the track at one point. I have never run this in a quarter mile, but I can tell you that this car is quick (if you get the carburetor/timing adjustments right! The car comes with a 3.91 rear and 14" (period correct) Rally wheels with Radial tires. I grew up Mopar and am including an OEM rear spoiler (in primer grey) which I had held onto for years. Based on what I've been told about spoilers, I'm thinking the spoiler on the car looks like an aftermarket (which is why I'm including the other one). When I had originally purchased the car, the carburetor leaked out of the accelerator pump. I had it rebuilt which made a world of difference. I wasn't able to get a true test drive when I bought it. Between then and now I've only replaced the battery and had to have the needle and seat on the carburetor replaced (again by someone else). I didn't have time to trouble shoot the carb problem which was probably a result of not running the car enough. The car had been running rich and now seems to be on the lean side with an advanced timing based on a some pre-ignition. If you know how to tune a car or know someone that does then you'll be in good shape. Ideally I would have liked to have pulled the intake and heads off, get the heads freshened up, figure out the cam size, take a peek at the cylinder walls, and have a shop tune the hell out of the carb once back together but with family responsibilities it doesn't make sense. Our daily drivers are going to be in need of some maintenance work and I'd rather put time and money into that. Working on the Duster might have been something that I would have done 10 years ago if I had the car then. The buyer is responsible for vehicle pick up within 7 days of the auction end where payment in full should be made. The winning bidder should send a $250 deposit buy PayPal within 24 hours of the auction end. I will not accept personal checks or any other form of uncertified payment. If you can get a bank check or a money order then there's no reason you shouldn't be able to show up with cash. I have a title (free and clear) in hand and will sign over once payment has been made. As the car sits now it needs a good detailing. I can't stress it enough. I have pictures posted of when I first detailed the car and a few of what it looks like now (but more in the evening). I made the mistake of leaving the car out in rain under a tree once or twice last year because of a space issue in the garage which left some spots on the paint surface. This will all come out. A solid day of detailing/compounding will get this car pretty again. So there it is. Please e-mail with any questions and I will see if I can help. I'll do my best to provide further pictures upon request, but please ask what you'd like to see on the car. On Feb-13-13 at 14:35:47 PST, seller added the following information: Update I'm having some issues trying to post a bunch more pictures so if you've got a specific question about an area on the car please ask. I cleaned a small portion of the trunk deck to try to give you an idea about how dusty/undetailed the car is. I used some wax to clean up the surface, but I'm sure a good compounding is in order. I've got a few pictures under the car. The driver's side full header extends under the frame which is a good reason why this car sits so high. I did find the date stamp on the passenger's side of the motor and it is a 72' block. I was told the motor was original and the numbers seem to be suggesting it. Please continue to send e-mails and I'll post what is relevant. I'll continue to work on getting pictures into the auction if it's possible. On Feb-14-13 at 16:05:37 PST, seller added the following information: Update #2 So after my previous Q and A and a bunch more looking on the internet - this car does not have the 'Twister' package. Please do not be miss-lead by the title which I can not seem to change. I had it put in my head at the time I bought the car that it was a Duster Twister, but never really second guessed it or looked into it. Shows you how much I was paying attention when I forked over a bunch of cash several years ago. The emblems and decals on the car are correct. Please read all f the Q and A below. There are things that I answered which were not addressed in the entire auction description. In reading further on the net, I saw that there were just over 15,500 1972 Duster 340 cars produced so it's kind of a big deal when you've got a numbers matching car. I have the numbers matching details outlined in one of the Q and A. Looking forward to more questions!
