Vehicle Detail
1966 MGB Roadster, one owner California car since new. I bought this car from the original owner a couple of years ago here in greater L.A. They bought it new at San Jose British Motor Cars in 1966 and it was their pride and joy for many many years. It still wears its black/yellow California plates that have always been on this car and show the last registration in 1988 when the car was parked in a garage. The buyers were wise in 1966 and bought a car with overdrive, wire wheels, factory radio and a removable hardtop. I have the business card from the salesman Mr. John Appleton still tucked in the folder with the drivers handbook and the metal warranty plate in the name of the gentleman I bought the car from. The numbers on the data plate list the serial number of the car and the engine number and all are matching the current components. This MGB tourer still wears its factory original Tartan Red paint although it is faded from the sun and scoured by miles of driving pleasure. It has never been hit or repaired and has absolutely no rust anywhere. Never been repainted!! The body is straight and all panels are original and it still has the aluminum bonnet as it should. The hardtop is a Snugtop which was available as an accessory at the time. It fits well and looks like it belongs. It makes a very comfortable cruising car. The original soft top and top bows are in their bags in the trunk along with the factory tonneau cover and its small bows. I have the jack. The indicated mileage is 33344 but I have no confirmation. For 100 photos please go to: share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=0AYtGrNk3ctWLIRg The original numbers matching engine has been rebuilt some time ago and was upgraded with a Mikuni sidedraft carburetor and a header. It runs well with that combination but I have the original parts that came off the car including the carbs, intake, aircleaners and exhaust manifold that are included to return this car to exactly how it left the factory with all original parts. It does have a slight miss which may be a valve. Oil pressure is good! We did the brakes from front to back as well as the clutch hydraulics a couple of years ago and it has been little used since. The transmission is smooth and the overdrive works! The interior has had the seats reupholstered in vinyl at some point but the rest is all original. Floor mats instead of carpet. The door panels are excellent. All the instruments are working in the original steel dash. The British Motor Corporation radio is not installed at the moment. Battery is brand new single 12V. All in all this is a very rare unmolested 1966 MGB with great options and a perfect candidate for a concours restoration. They are getting harder to find that have not been through the wringer of many indifferent owners. This car was stored in a garage since 1988 which is when it was last on the road. I have non-op registration and a clear CA title. I own a British car restoration shop and had planned on restoring and keeping this car forever for myself but my 4 Jaguars dictate otherwise. I have this car advertised locally and reserve the right to remove it from ebay at any time. Please feel free to email with any questions you may have. Check my feedback and bid with confidence.
