Vehicle Detail
NOTE: This vehicle has lost 4th gear. Overdrive is not working. It can be driven fine in Drive but if you drive it with overdrive on, it will slip in 4th gear (overdrive gear).I am selling a 1992 Lincoln Mark VII LSC for a friend. He has asked me to sell ot for him, as I collect them and understand the car better than him. 1992 was the last year for the Mark VII and has a one year only interior. This car is white with a burgundy interior. The color of the interior looks different in person than pictures will show. It is sharper in person. This color combination was not that common on the 1992 models, and is a color combination that is very popular right now in newer cars such as Mustangs, Maserati's, Corvettes, and others. This car has VIN tags on every body panel where they should be. It runs great and even drives well, with the exception of the transmission. Based on the strength of the car and the cosmetics, the mileage is believed to be accurate. While my friend owned it, he was driving and the TV cable bushing broke, and the cable became disconnected on the throttle. He continued to drive and lost 4th gear. If you know these cars, as well as AOD Mustangs and other Fords of this era, you know that the $10 bushing can cost you a transmission. In this case, it did. When this happens, if you know the cars well, you know to stop and replace the bushing to avoid transmission damage. In all of my own, I carry an extra in the center console. The grommet has been replaced, but he drove the car too far to save the transmission unit. The cost of a rebuild with a warranty ranges from $700 -1,200 (please verify yourself), depending on who/what you know. Please understand that the transmission needs to be repaired. You will not buy this car and replace the bushing and be in luck. The bushing has been replaced already. He is not currently in the position to repair the car, as it is a toy and not main transportation for him. I am not interested in it, as I have several of my own. I do have the phone number of a guy in NJ who sells parts who claims to have a good used transmission unit for $375 that I could pass on to you.The story that he got when he bought the car, was that the original owner passed away, and the car sat in the garage for many years. He has only put 1,000-1,500 miles on the car since he bought it and has enjoyed it without issue, aside from the transmission. You can still drive it as is, locally. Here are items that have been changed/replaced: Window motors (both sides) Door Lock Actuators (both sides) Battery Starter solenoid A/C Recharged Power seat switch (drivers side) Door lock switch (passenger side) New Brake light stop switchI personally drove the car last week as it was registered and insured up until today, and its a nice LSC and it feels and looks like a cleaner LSC with low mileage. It is a very clean car,but not perfect. It was someones daily driver for over 65,000 miles. It has some usage damage on it but it's definately sharp and great looking and is in excellent condition for a car of its year and mileage. In fact, this car is nicer than most LSC's I have seen at shows/meets in the past 3 years aside from my own cars. I have driven and looked at many of these cars. This one is definately a nice one. Here are things that should bepointed out on the negative side, that the pictures may not show: Headlights are yellowing (this can be fixed with headlight restorer available at any auto parts store. The plastic is not dry and there are no sun/stress cracks. Its just dry clear coat. I've restored plenty of sets and know it's not a big deal. The dashboard has a hairline crack that runs from the front of the radio to the windshield (it does not run accross the dash, but from the windshield to where you would touch the radio - short direction). This can be repaired or covered. Alot of people drive them with worse damage. Some people when they sell them, don't even mention it. I mention it, so no one is surprised. The clock/info center does not work. The LED is not on. You can find these on ebay ranging from $20-100. I would try to buy from a reliable vendor, to make sure it works. The car has no radio, but the factory harness is in place (as seen in pictures). You can plug a radio in. In fact, there was a radio in there wired up with a plug and play harness last week, but it was an expensive radio that the owner wants to keep, so it was unplugged and removed. The car has four new speakers - I believe all 4 are pioneer (I can see the fronts, so I know they are). The speakers remain in the car. The main thing is the transmission. I mention this again so that if you missed it earlier, you get it. Here is the positive:Please look closely at most LSC's for sale after reading this The car has all of its original body panels. The rocker panels are clean and free of road rust (when he bought the car, it had mudflaps which do a great job of saving the lower panels. They were removed due to an ugliness factor but did preserve the rockers for many years). All of the LSC quirky items, such as door lock actuators, trunk pull down, keyless entry (door pad), window motors, suspension etc are working on this car. In fact the suspension stays up on all 4 and does not leak down. The heat and A/C work. I tested this myself. Heat is great. A/C, I remember when my friend came by in the summer, it was blowing ice cold. He said it still does. I turned it on before writing this ad, and it blows cold and the compressor goes on and cycles right, but based on how cold it is, its hard to tell if its blowing 100% cold. I believe it to be and so does he and everything functions. It was charged over the summer and checked for leaks, so it should be good. Based on how cold it is, I can tell you that the heat works great. Interior is NOT dogged aka ripped to shreds. In fact, it is very youthful. It looks much newer than the car is. The seats are not ripped open and showing pads. The leather is not sun dried. The door panels etc, carpets, are all in fantastic condition just like the seats. It even still has 3 of the 4 original Lincoln Floor Mats. The drivers mat disappeared somewhere over the years. The leather is in excellent condition, and it is the original leather, not reupholstered in vinyl like many offered for sale. Windows have a very nice tint job, Two sets of keys. BBS rims (original) are not all oxidized and cracked up. They are not perfect but in great shape. Most of them by now, have clear missing and serious oxidation. Body side moldings (color key to car) match the car as well as fillers. They have not faded and turned brown or yellow. Paint is alive and well. Here are two big things in my opinion and there is a pic to show it. The keyless entry pad is amazingly clean. In fact, you can read the numbers from a distance. All of the numbers are still clear and visible as can be plus the lights work on the pad and door locks. The window belt sweep (weatherstrip) is lively and all there. Most of these cars have dried up and cracked sweeps. These things are big money to replace and never look as good as the original. Paint is shiny and not oxidized. The car has not been detailed recently by machine. Polish this car up and clean the interior, and see how much better it shows, and trust me it shows great already. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. I believe this to be a real nice LSC and to be in excellent condition especially considering what is out there. I go to local shows and used to go to alot of Lincoln meets. This car is much better than alot of the ones I see out there. I think with minimal time and money, you can have a great car that you can either use a s a driver or a weekend toy. You can even take it to shows. Everyone has an opinion and they are all different. Please check things out for yourself to see if this car is what you want. I will answer any questions as honestly as possible.
