Invest in a piece of AMC History with this Legendary 1987 and 1988 Champion raced by Charles Smiley. This is one of the best prepared SCCA Solo I cars ever built and is legendary in the SCCA circuits. It has set lap records at Riverside International Raceway and was feared by its Corvette and Camaro counterparts and even some formula cars. It was never beaten in its class in a timed competition after its first SCCA event while running for almost 5 seasons. Best of all it is all documented with over three binders of notes, receipts, race logs, and video...which all comes with the sale of the car. Very rare and amazing provenance and documentation. Winner of SCCA Regional Chamionships, AMO Concord, Best of Show winner and the subject car of several car magazine articles. This car has reached speeds of 160 mph + in routine fashion where it reached the prized FTD (fastest time of day) at the Carlsbad, California track against all classes including formula classes and the tube GT-1 and Super Productions cars...WOW! The AMC Hornet has been in long time storage from 1990 until 2008 and to this day it remains in its as raced condition with a fresh 401 engine sporting road racing oiling mods, aluminum radiator and msd ignition. The car has significant suspension modifications, professional roll cage and fiberglass front and rear bumpers and only weighs 3000LBS with the driver. The car still maintains 95% of its original paint and is in very good condition and only a few beauty marks from its racing years. The car is race prepped with only test and tune miles since being rescued from storage..it is ready to roll!
