1972 BMW R-Series

I bought this bike in 2010 from a family member who purchased the bike new in 1972. He put 78K miles on the bike traveling all over the US. He "retired" the bike sometime around 2007 and parked it in his basement. When I got the bike, took it home and had it running in 20 minutes. It ran OK, but as you can imagine, it needed a tune up. Well, I didn't stop there. Ended up having a local BMW shop (Boxerworks) give her the works. New clutch, new heads, timing chain, rings, electronic ignition, high output charging system for heated clothes and accesories, rebuilt carbs, seals, gaskets, wheel bearings, tires, tubes, etc. . .. . .. . .. A 2 ½ page work order to the tune of $3416. Have only put 5K miles on her since 2010. In 2011 I did step up to a 33/11 rear end to slow the engine on the highway. The bike runs strong and looks great. The bike has not been restored, but is in excellent original condition. The toaster panels on the bike were purchase later and re-chromed. You must see the pics to appreciate her condition. Now the cons. The front fender had a crack and was repaired and repainted white. ( bike is Blue with white pinstripes). At the time it had a set of white Wixom cases and it looked really nice. The tachometer needle has come off and the chrome speedo ring has a dent. (see in the photos). The bike is a great daily rider and is trip worthy. The saddle bag racks shown in the pics are not included. I have a brand new set of Hepco Becker side cases (look like the old Krauser cases) mounting racks, and keys for this bike that can be purchased separately if you purchase the bike.
