Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is the car of my dreams. This 1973 Volvo P1800 was purchased by me in the spring of 2006 from a very reputable antique dealer in Denver Colorado. I had it shipped to Jacksonville and began to further restore and enhance this wonderful example of Swedish Iron. I had the valves ground and the head ported and polished, shaved to "E" head spec and double valve springs were installed. Copper gasket was installed. All of the injectors were cleaned and matched out of 8 that I had. Bougicord spark plug wires were installed. 15 x7" MSW rims with exsta AS tires were purchased. I installed an original IPD 421 header. Street torque cam from IPD and light weight lifters. I polished the radiator for effect. The car runs quite well and has lots of umph if thats possible with a 2 liter pushrod. I have never had it tested; however I would estimate it at about 145-150 HP. The car also has the IPD front sway bar in place and an IPD rear bar (not installed) comes with it. It has new A arm bushings (rubber). The steering is about a 9 out of 10 I believe the right upper ball joint needs to be replaced. Brakes work well and were bled recently. Paint is in good condition about 8.5 out of 10. Now for the honest stuff that most wouldn't say anything about. There is some rust on the passenger floor panel and around the front edge of the passenger door jamb. I restored the drivers side as well as the battery box and sprayed with original PPG paint. One of the wiper arms needs to but replaced but works well. The fan motor for the heat should be lubricated as it will squeal for a minute or so when it starts up. The radiator has been relocated to accommodate the additional spacers on the engine mount to accommodate the header. The mounting brackets need to re brazed to the radiator and an new fan shroud put in place. It is secure but not a pretty job. The radiator does not leak. A new crank pulley would be nice as this on has a slight wobble nothing serious just wanted to point it out. The drivers seat has some damage but could be repaired still unless it were to be recovered with leather which is what I had planned. There is a little rust where the gas tank mounts onto the opening flange. It has a new fuel pump. It is missing the passenger side view mirror. Headliner is not bad but not perfect. All of the window gaskets have been replaced. The fresh air vents in the cowling need new gaskets and the cables are broken for the heater and vent adjustment. However the heater valve does function and does not leak. The turn signal is basically broken but does work (an easy fix). The rear window heater is for some reason not connected but the glass wire has continuity. As you can tell; I know all about this car. It is basically unmolested and nicely modified. It also comes with two amps and an active crossover with a single CD player. Not the best sound setup but a good start. This car looks and sounds great. It is a real eye turner. Lots of thumbs up and silly questions like what is that?, what do you have in there?, sounds good! I really would rather not sell it but my baby momma has forced the sale and not in a good way. It does need some work but if you put some time in and truthfully about $2000 you would have a concourse quality car. Or about $200 for minor stuff to get rid of some pesky failings. Or... just drive it and have fun like I have for the last 6 years. I have lots of original owner records, original owners manual, even the original spare (doesn't hold air) and lots of spare parts (windshield, rear window etc. etc. etc.) too many to list email me with a phone number and I will call you if you would like.file://localhost/Users/cptkirk/Documents/Car/P1800/IMG_0726.MOV file://localhost/Users/cptkirk/Documents/Car/P1800/IMG_0727.MOV Please note that this car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to cancel the auction if the reserve is not met and it is sold locally.
