1969 Chevelle SS396 Unrestored survivor. The car was originally purchased at Johnson chevrolet in Mobile Alabama buy a Vietnam vet and family owned for over 40 years. The car has 10,794 original miles as documented on the title. The car was given to the owners son and some modifications were made to the car. The son was involved in a fatal car accident and passed away. The original owner got the car back and did not want to keep the bad memories and traded the car at the Turkey rod run this past November. The car comes with the original window sticker, original build sheet, owners manual and original owners license plate from 1969. The car has the L35 396 (325HP) engine but now has some modifications. The son wanted more power so he had the motor worked, unfortunately the machine shop decked the block and removed the original stampings on the front pad. The casting number is correct # 3955272 for the 396, in 1969 so I do believe that it is the original motor and the original owner said it was. The motor has a larger cam, aluminum high rise intake and Holley dual feed carburator with headers. I do have the original exhaust manifolds and intake manifold for the car. The transmission is a turbo 400 but not the original. The rear end is the original casting # 395838NF with date code F169 but again the son wanted to go fast so he had the original 3:31 gears changed to 4:11. The car is the original color code 53-53 Glacier Blue and was repainted once with some original paint in the jams. The car has all it's original panels and I was told never had any rust. The floors still have the original flat Black paint and super clean. The AC system was removed by the son when the motor work was done so I put it back on the car but it will need alignment and a belt to get working and I'm not sure if the compressor will work. The interior is original and very clean, everything works except the clock and the lighter but I have a new lighter insert for it and the horn works sometimes but just clicks sometimes. The car was ordered with column shift and bucket seats, I've never seen one like it before. Also he ordered a rear mounted antenna with the AM radio witch still works great.
