Those of you who follow my auctions know that I have a love for well kept classic cars that are in exceptional original condition. This Land Cruiser is not completely original as it has aftermarket wheels, a leveling kit installed and the running boards have been removed (although I do have the running boards with all mounting hardware). But other than the wheels this LC is in exceptional original condition and the wheel upgrade and leveling kit look look very nice on this rig. I have owned several of the 80 series Land Cruisers and I love their reliability, practicality and off road performance. Many of the LC experts feel that this is the best rig for the money out of all of the older Land Cruisers for various reasons but primarily due to factory lockers and the improved engine over the earlier (pre-1993) engines. These things are beasts off road but are very highway friendly as well, with modern conveniences and comfort not found in the earlier models (fj60-62s). Can seat 8 people when the third row seats are installed. This truck has been here in Arizona most of it's life and from the history I could gather it is a three owner truck. The second owner knew the original owner as they worked together and neither one of those ever took the truck off road. The factory lockers have never even been used. This thing is a virgin as far as being used anywhere but on the highway. It runs and drives great and would make a great daily driver or family SUV. Or it could be turned into an offroad beast with very little modification. I will describe it in more detail below: EXTERIOR: The exterior on the truck is exceptional. The only dings I could find were on the fuel door and front right corner of the truck. Both are very small. The rear bumper has a shallow dent on the left side (see pic) and a scrape on the right corner. There has been no body work or paint work done on the truck and the original paint is in excellent condition and looks great. There are a few rock chips in the paint but nothing significant. Zero rust anywhere on the truck. The running boards were removed by the second owner who also had the leveling kit installed and put the rims and tires on the truck. The rims are aluminum Dick Cepek rims and are in "like new" condition as are the tires. I do not have the original rims but if you were a purist and wanted to put originals back on it you can find those on Craigslist or eBay regularly. As mentioned earlier I have the original running boards and hardware as well and these will go with the truck. All lights work. Glass is all perfect condition. New rear hatch shocks installed. Roof rack in excellent condition. Sun roof works perfectly and does not leak. Just a very nice looking older Cruiser that gets a lot of compliments. INTERIOR: This Land Cruiser was very well kept. Carpeting is in exceptional condition and has been covered since new with heavy rubber mats over the factory mats which cover the carpet, so there has been triple protection on the carpet. There is some light staining only on the very outside edge of the cargo area carpeting but it is minor. All door panels are in excellent condition. The seats have been covered by a highly customized and heavy duty leather (or leather like) material that look like factory seats. These are no cheap slip on seat covers. They are very custom made for this application and they fit very tight and most people think that they are the original leather seats. They are secured with multiple ties underneath and heavy velcro to fit snug. I have not removed all of these to check out the condition of the original leather but I did check the driver's seat bottom which does show some minor seperation from the seam that is so common on these trucks. I also removed one off the rear seats and the original leather showed the expected weathering but no tears in the material. The headliner is in great shape. Everything works inside including ice cold AC and HOT front and rear heaters. The dash shows two cracks just above the instrument cluster from the Arizona sun. A nice dash cover would take care of that or a used dash can be purchased from some of the LC parts suppliers for a reasonable amount. All gauges work as they should. The original stereo/CD player works fine and still sounds great. The electric antenna goes up and down as it should but does have a crease in the antenna so I leave it about half way up to make it more stable against the wind. A new mast can be purchased for about $25. The interior is very roomy and comfortable with plenty of storage space in the rear. MECHANICAL: There are no major mechanical issues with the truck at all. It does leak a drop or two of oil but not enough that you need to add any between oil changes. The check engine light will come on sporatically and then go off. It has been checked by a local Land Cruiser specialist and he could find nothing wrong with it. He had it for four days and checked everything out but could find nothing wrong and it would not hold a code. I have not worried about it. It will come on and stay on for a day or two at the longest and then it will be off for sometimes weeks before it will do the same thing. Those are the only two mechanical issues I know of with the truck. It starts right up everytime and drives beautifully. It tracks straight with no pulling, shakes or shimmies. Stops straight and true. Tires are near new. Transfer case shifts easily from high to low. These are legendary off road machines and with the front and rear lockers, they go places most factory rigs can't go. Has a really beefy tow package if you need to pull anything. Passes emissions easily. All power accessories work as they should including: PW, PDL, Power sun roof, PS, PB, AM/FM stereo/CD player, power antenna, CC, tilt wheel and rear window defrost. Auto trans with ECT function shifts perfectly. This rig is a pleasure to drive and talk about having command of the road...theres nothing like driving one of these. SUMMARY: These fzj80's are getting harder to find in good condition and their popularity is increasing steadily. If you are in the market for one of these you owe it to yourself to check this one out. It is as clean underneath as it is up top and is ready to be turned into a killer off road beast or kept as a very nice daily driver and family SUV. I have this priced VERY reasonably and if you have been watching these you will agree that this is a very nice rig for the money. The only reason I'm selling this is because I have found a one owner super clean fj62 here in Tucson and so I have been selling some of my cars to accumulate enough cash to buy the other LC.
