Vehicle Detail
This is a 2002 Jaguar X type 2.5L with all wheel drive. My description is lengthy, but since you’re buying a car online, I feel you should know everything the owner knows. I inherited the vehicle from a family member and do not need another vehicle. The vehicle was driven from Kansas to Georgia where it currently sits. After I received it, I added new tires before driving it cross country. When I got it to Georgia, I noticed a vibration and it was the driveshaft bolts needed replacement. I then decided to go ahead and do a normal service maintenance to make sure it was road worthy for the next owner. All parts used on the vehicle are OEM Jaguar unless otherwise noted. Here is what I completed: MECHANICALLY New tires. General Evertrek 205/55/R16. These have 803 miles since they were put on. The brake pads were completed about 2,000 miles ago and still have a lot of life left. New battery was just installed. I replaced all the bolts on the driveshaft along with the locking links and gasket. Lubricated the shaft and tightened all bolts to OEM specs with blue Loctite. Water pump was replaced along with the gasket, this fixed a leak and now there is a new water pump. Replaced all the spark plugs with Denso Iridium spark plugs. As I was doing this, I noticed oil in the #1 and #2 spark plug banks so I replaced the spark plug bosses with Fel Pro gaskets, the valve cover gaskets with Fel Pro and the intake gaskets with Fel Pro. Sealed it all up and tightened in order to OEM specs. No leaks. Replaced most of the vacuum hoses and coolant hoses. These are easily identified in the engine because I left the OEM stickers on them for part number identification if they need replaced in the future. I did leak some coolant on the engine when these were replaced but most of it has been washed off or burned off with the running of the engine. I also fixed the Jaguar TSB (technical service bulletin) for the leaking windshield washer fluid. This was nothing more than connecting new hoses. This solved that issue. The fuel pump was replaced by Jaguar. They also checked my work and found no leaks or problems with my work. Oil changed, air filter changed, all fluids topped off and tire pressure set to OEM spec at 32 psi front/rear. What needs to be done: The oil pan gasket does need replaced. It is leaking but not to the point where it shows on ground underneath the vehicle. Basically just when driving and pressure is being applied. Jaguar also recommended this. The dealer cost to do this is $1090. I have included the gasket, it is in the trunk. I was going to do this but it is about a 10 hour job. It is difficult to remove the pan. I would recommend taking it to a European car shop instead of a dealership and have it completed for less. Jaguar also said the shifter interlock needs replaced at a cost of $790. This is the actual automatic shifter piece that you use to shift. You cannot purchase the part by itself. You can find these new on Ebay for about $300 and are easy to replace. It’s 4 bolts and an electronic connector. I haven’t noticed this being an issue but Jaguar said it was. Finally, Jaguar said the A/C compressor leaks. This part can be purchased on Ebay for about $350 and is also 4 bolts in the engine bay for replacement. The only other thing that I can think of, is when I run the engine I get a sweet smell coming from the radiator area. I think it’s the radiator fluid still burning off because I cannot find a leak, pressure tests came back fine and Jaguar also could not find anything. I just wanted to disclose it though. It could be a pinhole leak in the actual radiator but I don’t know. Again, there are no leaks on the ground under the vehicle at any time. BODY AND INTERIOR: The vehicle was involved in a rear ending. It happened at a light and there was no real damage other than the rear bumper was cracked and paint pushed away and the front bumper was also cracked. I would recommend replacing the front bumper cover. They can be purchased for about $400 on Ebay. I replaced the front grille with a new one. I also replaced the rear taillight that was cracked. Replaced the trunk seal. It was bad and allowed water to enter the trunk area, warping the carpet. I replaced the carpet as well. The driver’s side seat is cracking and tearing on the entrance area as shown in the pictures. There is a yellow stain on the passenger side seat behind the driver’s seat. It’s about 3” in diameter. The dash is curling up on the passenger side. This can be glued back down. All the carpet was carpet cleaned and the leather was treated with Meguiar’s leather conditioner. Couple scratches and small dents on the doors, photos show the location and size. The outer door handles were becoming hard to open. This was fixed by replacing a small plastic piece inside the door, now the doors open fine. OVERALL: The car is sound to drive and what I call a nice 10 footer. The car starts fine every time, the heater blows hot and the A/C blows cold. Stereo works fine as do all the power windows and seats. The paint still shows great and I just detailed the whole vehicle to include the engine bay. I did not spray water on the engine bay, with all the electronics that’s ill advised. I did it by hand. For a car that is 10 years old, it runs and drives just fine. The work I have completed should keep it trouble free although I would have that oil pan gasket replaced. I just detailed the vehicle and we will have rain the next few days. Before it leaves my house I’ll wash it again so whoever buys it gets a car ready to drive. Title is in hand and it has one key. All maintenance records that I have completed will come with the vehicle. I’ve spent about $3500 on repairs and maintenance on this vehicle and all receipts will come with it. Kelly Blue book lowest value is $3915 for this model and mileage and highest is $5010. The vehicle is sold AS-IS with no warranties. If you would like to take it for a test drive, feel free to fly to Atlanta and I can pick you up at the airport. If you are local, message me and I will meet you. Shipping is on the buyer. I am not a shipping company so please do not contact me asking for shipping quotes. Google is your friend. I’ve purchased 3 cars on Ebay and have always had an easy experience with the shipping of vehicles. Vehicle must be paid in full before pickup. Any questions, just ask.
