Vehicle Detail
Selling this 1993 Volvo 240 Classic. Number 763 of only 1600 made and the last year of the 240 box-shaped Volvo. This one has a 5-speed manual transmission. Simply one of the longest lasting cars in history with a 2.3 Fuel injected 4 cylinder engine that is used for boats, Bobcats, tractors and more. Volvo holds the record for most miles driven at over 2.5 million miles. The A/C on this one works perfectly as does the blower fan which was a problem at one point with these. It also has working cruise control. The original seats were replaced with some out of an earlier model that were nice and include an armrest. (rare) The rest of the interior is not bad for the year. Speakers are missing. Some of the dash trim gone, but the dash is decent and the glove box works. The body is in decent condition. Clear coat is going on the paint on all horizontal surfaces (roof, hood, trunk). It has one (left) rear door that has been replaced and painted flat black. There are a couple of ripples in the left rear 1/4 panel, but it is easily fixable. The hood is up a bit on the left hinge side, but a hinge replacement would fix it. I have the spare, but the tire is shredded. Carpet in the trunk is excellent and includes the carpeted tire cover. Tires in front are near new and very good on the rear. It has rare alloy wheels that are original, and I have been offered $500 for them but want to sell the car as a whole. It doesn't leak or use oil, but there is some clicking lifter noise when running. Been that way for quite some time, and doesn't seem to affect the running. Clutch works without slipping and transmission shifts without issue.Mileage reads 163,606 (trip meter works also) on a working odometer. I believe it to have many more miles than that on her, but how much more I would only be guessing. The clock works, gas gauge works, speedo works, the temp gauge works sometimes. I replaced the sending unit for temp gauge recently but it has a mind of its own. It never runs hot and that has been checked manually.I have a couple boxes of extra parts that will go with the Volvo. Included are a working complete speedo head with 70K miles on it, 2 Very nice headlights that are not yellowed, a grill, and a bunch of other stuff some from older Volvos that are too numerous to list. There is an ECU in there that is extremely rare off a 78, I believe. I will include all the Volvo parts with the car. Many of the parts on this car are rare and very hard to find and expensive when you can. All the power windows work as does the power door locks including trunk. Power mirrors were replaced with manual ones and work great. Windshield was replaced with a good used one not long ago. Car came from Mississippi so has always been in the South so no rust out anywhere. Very solid. Brake rotors were turned recently. Rear bushings replaced recently and I have some extra bushings that will be included. I wrote a book here but wish to be as thorough as possible. I would drive it on a long trip with faith, but it is an old car so being sold as is where is to the high bidder. I am selling it because I am moving West and it is not a cost effective decision to take it with me. It has been a faithful daily driver and i will miss her. My feedback speaks as to my integrity. Shipping will be buyers responsibility. Cash ONLY or cashier check after purchase BEFORE you make the trip so there is ample time for the check to clear. Please NO GAMES! This car must be picked up within 7 days of auction end. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING! :o)
