Celebrity Owned Steve Prefontaine’s BEAUTIFUL 1971 Datsun 240Z- This is a documented celebrity owned 240z purchased by world famous Steve Prefontaine on August 26, 1971 from Troyer Barnard Datsun in Coos Bay, Oregon. Mr. Prefontaine was arguably the greatest American Olympic distance runner in history. He was unstoppable on the track; and at the height of his career, he held every American track and field record from the 2,000 to the 10,000 meters. Google his name “Steve Prefontaine” for more information. Offered for your consideration is Steve Prefontaine’s 1971 240Z built in May of 1971. The car has been in California for many years and currently is a California blue plate car. It has 90k original miles. The car still has the all original owners' manuals, radio manual, and consumer informational brochure, and warranty booklet. Many enthusiasts strive for this documentation and few achieve it. This is a fully matching numbers car and still has all of the original features. This 1971 Datsun 240Z has lived a sheltered garaged life. At some point, it had one exterior re-spray in the factory 901-code silver, but other than that it is totally stock right down to the dealer installed Ansen American Racing wheels. The car has always been properly maintained, and cancer free, and has never been undercoated! The interior is totally correct and recently fitted with correct oem black seat covers. Everything else interior wise is original and well preserved including the original radio, and beautiful wood wheel. All the lights and all gauges function correctly. The engine bay is beautiful and all its original engine components are intact. The car runs and drives great. It recently had a $1700 servicing including a complete tune-up, carburetors rebuilt and professionally tuned, a new clutch and pressure plate.
