Vehicle Detail
I have owned this vehicle since October 1977. As my last name is Healey this was Healey number 4 for me. I bought this car from the president of the sports car club, Hyannis, MA. The engine was sent to Boston and completely rebuilt. In the 35 years I have owned this vehicle, it has been redone twice, never seen the rain, stored inside and driven less than 1000 miles. It is mostly all original mechanically with up grades where needed. Interior was replaced and new Canvas top and tonneau added. Trunk lining is all new. Windshield glass was replaced. Five wire wheels plus a sixth for parts. I installed a Crane electronic ignition, but switched back to points. There are a front bumper and a rear in very good condition plus an unpainted front bumper splash pan. I personally believe these were added, as were the steel fenders for production/replacement and not for looks. The transmission works fine except it wants to pop out of reverse with too much power but if I keep my right hand on it gently it stays in. The over drive does not want to kick in when the switch is "on" but will kick in when you down shift into second. I paid good money to have it fixed years ago and it worked for a year and started up again. The solenoid that kicks it in may be sticking from not driving or loose wire. Because of low ground clearance and scraping off a few Moss replacement mufflers I welded a cherry bomb muffler with rounded ends in place. It sounds like stock and it's still there. Exhaust exits to side.Note: The fire wall vin# plaque was painted flat black before I bought car, so I will see if I can remove paint with out hurting it. Fire wall stamped # 5400 9563, engine # 1B224758M, Firewal DBC22564. About 10 years ago I remember tracking all #'s and came up with a manufacturing date of February 1955.
